SynergyKM not working, alternatives?

Although a Google search turns up conflicting results, I can't seem to get SynergyKM to work between 2 Intel macs (one MBP, one Mac Mini) both running Leopard. The application installs fine and appears to work, but both machines just sit looking for peers indefinitely. I've tried using IP addresses, machine names, and Bonjour - all unsuccessful.

I suspect those that have been successful in getting this working are controlling Windows machines from their Mac.

Does anyone have this working already between Macs? Or any suggestions that might help? I've tried checking logs but they don't turn up anything useful.
