I've had this problem since the release of Lion that I cannot enable internet sharing via Wifi without all my windows crashing, and refusing to re-open. My iPhone is currently off contract at the moment so I use my Mac as a router for it so I can enjoy apps, but without this working its effectively useless. I'd like to stress that I had no problems whatsoever in Snow Leopard.

The crashes aren't immediate, they are usually around half an hour later, causing me to restart my mac

I have a 2011 iMac 27" i5 2.7GHz for anyone wondering.

Thanks for the help, been a reader for quite some time on this forum 🙂

I installed it straight from the App store onto Snow Leopard

Nope, It hasn't worked in Lion, from the start and after the latest updates

It seems to be an issue that happens to many users.
- Try to change your TCP/IP settings in System preferences: in "Advanced" under WiFi Connection, change to 'Using DHCP with manual address';
- If that doesn't work, consider purchasing a second-hand Airport Express on eBay.

Internet Sharing has always been a bit wonky, even with older OSes and apparently much worse now with Lion. A router is always a more stable solution.
