System Folder Visible

After installing the Big Sur public beta, the System Folder is now visible in finder. Is this expected behaviour? If not any idea how to hide it again? I've already tried running First Aid through Disk Utility.

Wasn't it always visible? Or did Apple change something after "High Sierra"? 🤔

As far as I'm aware, it's been visible since 1984.

The /Users/username/Library is the folder that is "hidden".

Thanks everyone, I could have sworn the System folder was hidden too. 2020's been a long 15 years.

I am surprised Apple has not hidden the System folder.

The only thing about the folder that has changed is that now it's labeled macOS. Heretofore it was labeled with an X. Obviously not apropos on OS 11.

either they're worried that longtime mac users would panic if they didn't see the system folder, or they're taunting us ("here i am, and you can change nothing about me").

or both.
