Huh? What does that have to do with this thread?

It would seem that the posts I quoted were not attached to my reply.

I was unable to empty my trash after deleting these files before turning off SIP, even after a reboot it would not empty because it said the files were in use. As soon as I had disabled SIP and restarted I was able to empty my trash and then switch SIP on again.

Just as a data point, I was never on any of the betas.... so you may be onto something there. It does not seem like the rest of us are not having this issue.

I agree. I think it may have something to do with the betas. I think those who used the betas also have PreviousSystem folder.
 
I filed a bug report. Turning System Integrity Protection off or deleting the folder remotely via Recovery or a previous OS X install will do the trick.
 
You are correct that it is related to the betas. On my MB air which had the GM installed first, getting the same thing. My main computer, which went straight to the release build, had no issue deleting that folder.
