After the update from Monterey to Ventura, System Preferences categories went from icons to a list.

How do I get the categories to show as icons like they were in Monterey?

It's not quite the same - I couldn't find Software Update, so I had to search for it. I know where it is lol. But I can't say I was a fan of the change.

I have just updated my MacBook Pro to Ventura, and so far so good.

I have to say I quite like the system settings option.
At first I was a little surprised by the change, but after a few moments it soon became clear they had changed it to bring some conformity between Mac OS, iOS and iPadOS settings views.
With that in mind it made perfect sense and made it clear to me where options such as update would be.

I guess non iOS or iPadOS users may miss that nuance, but that is my thoughts on the change.
I could of course be utterly wrong!!😂

You don't. It's the new System Settings.
Hate is a big word. Do you dislike the new System Settings or do you just not like change?
I accepted the change (since beta 1) and now I find it a lot clearer. The groupings make a lot more sense.
