System Preferences has gone

Being reasonably new to the world of Mac can anyone talk me through re-installing "System Preferences" - I have a disc.

It has definitely gone, I must have inadvertently zapped it (it's not in apple menu or spotlight or finder).

Is it in your Applications folder?

You can get Pacifist for free online. Use it to extract System Preferences from you OS installation disc.
