System Preferences Won't Open!

I love you!!!!

This has been such a long 4 day stretch down the rabbit hole since my computer blew up.... I now have a new (ish) computer and have been getting programs back, reloading stuff and trying to find a sense of normalcy (actually just trying to make deadlines.. ). Anyways.. you saved my LIFE! System preferences was on another screen that wasn't connected... I would have never thought of that until every last hair was pulled out of my now near bald head ( full head of hair yesterday ). Thanks!

I was having this problem. System preferences would say it's open (highlighted on the dock) but nothing on screen. Expose or "Show All" would not show the preferences panes... and in the end, it turned out that I had the system preferences on another monitor which just happened to be turned off (rather, switched away via a KVM switch).

I am having the same problem

Last night while trying to sync my new droid 2, I noticed my ical on my mac went blank. This morning I rebooted and its still blank, I read in the forums that I should reset it in my System preferences, but...guess what... my system preferences is not working. Tried to open a handful of times, following the advice on this forum, but still it crashes every time.
if its not one thing its another...
Any advice?
(I am slowly getting to my wits end...)
