Dear Users,

I am running macOS Mojave on late 2013 iMac(3,2GHz, 24GB RAM, 1TB) and noticed my "System" takes 310GB(and it is growing). Deleting the files won't help.

Visited the Apple Store in Belfast/UK and was told by staff that "Maybe it is time for an upgrade". I asked them about the large system and was told that it is perfectly fine. I can't get it then why are they selling 256GB Macbooks if System takes over 300;) They gladly recommended getting Macbook with 1TB.
I don't use Time Machine and my photos are stored in Cloud.

I was Googling for the answer but it looks like it didn't happen a lot, especially on Mojave.

Any suggestions(except getting a new Mac)?

I have less than 80gb total for the system and music and videos and other files - 300 is a lot must be something loading onto the drive? Drop box etc could be worth checking, or photos, videos downloading itunes?

You asked for suggestions, and these are mine:
1. If you have "hibernation mode" running, DISABLE IT and remove the sleep image.

2. If you are using Time Machine, STOP USING IT and use something else instead.
Then, locate and remove all "local snapshots", local backups, etc.

My opinion only.
Others will disagree.
Some will disagree vehemently.
