Is there a way to "map" in system wide keyboard shortcuts to, in essence, create media keys like those that exist on the MB and the newest MBP. Ideally I am looking for something like fn+(f8-f10) or something of that nature. I looked around in the Preference pane under keyboard and saw that it was possible to change application specific shortcuts but could not find a way to do this system wide. Basically I am looking for the ability to be in Safari and just hit my combo to change the track that's playing in iTunes, etc.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know about system wide shortcuts but if you want a global iTunes controller you can't go wrong with SizzlingKeys: http://www.yellowmug.com/sk4it/
