System Wide SOCKS Proxy?

Are there any free applications so that I can force all applications to go through a SOCKS proxy?

I set it up in the network connection properties but most applications don't listen to it.

I've seen some shareware ones, but I want a permanent application.

Have you found the application you were looking for ?
I too need to set a system-wide SOCKS proxy to be used by ALL apps (or even if I can just specify which apps) but can't seem to find one. The System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> Proxy doesn't seem to work (or at least on some of the apps that I need it to work on).
