Of course this rules out many older iPhones, but upgrading from my 7 to my 11, I expected better wireless performance in comparison but still have pretty rough signal in my area (the edge of town).

Head a few blocks in and speeds are off the charts, back home? Back to 1 or 2 bars, but have solid LTE.

All depends if you're in an area with Bands 71.

I will say, T-Mobile needs to turn the power up on Band 12 and 71.

I am curious about other people’s experience with Band 71 on the 600mhz. I am in the Detroit area and we do not have it yet (we are Phase 8 of the repacking process). I want to know what to expect?

As of now when T-Mobile coverage is good, it is very fast. However, lots of patchy areas where I have a signal but internet comes to a crawl. Will Band 71 (once its turned on) fix this? I have a Band 71 compatible phone.

According to tmonews, 600MHz or band 71 is in my area. Speedtest blew past my cable modems average.

how can I tell?

I think you just need to go in field test mode. The following link are instructions.

Once you are in there you go to LTE -> Serving Cell Info. There should be something called Frequency Band. Currently, mine is on 12.
