I wonder if I can pick up a used cheap Verizon iPhone 4 or Sprint iPhone 4 (Costs around $50-$70 as I have seen many go for that price on Craigslist) and trade it in?
 
But you aren't selling it to T-mobile. You are trading it in. T-mobile probably deals with another company that re-sells them. So clearly, they aren't giving you market value. That is how trade-ins work. I guess no one here has traded in a car. :rolleyes:

Not everyone wants to deal with craigslist and especially eBay. For people to go into a T-Mobile store and to get an iPhone with no upfront money without having to deal with selling a phone is preferable to some people.
