Not sure why you're getting so much push back. Sure, you don't have to opt in, but it's still scummy. They make it sound like the new plans are cheaper but they are in fact more expensive since taxes and fees are not included: "...all at $5 less per line a month, plus taxes and fees..." Price Lock Guarantee is now just a 5 year guarantee. The list goes on - it gets worse and worse.
they support the shareholders I guess šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚, screw us the consumers, they were good for years then got so greedy

Mike Sievert has been a good CEO for T-Mobile in the same way Tim Cook has been a good CEO for Apple. T-Mobile's business is strong; They continue to grow subscribers at a faster rate than AT&T and Verizon.

Since taking over the CEO role in April 2020, TMUS stock is up over 184%. Compare that to AT&T (up 20.25%) and Verizon (down 25.44%) over the same period.

lets keep screwing the people and make the shareholders richer YESSSS and less competition too by buying them!!!

Pretty disappointing (but sadly unsurprising) that you just parrot the press release and don't bother mentioning any of the problems with this:
  • They broke the last two price guarantees they offered, the latter of which was all but meaningless (they claim it meant they would pay your last month if they raised prices and you left, despite the press release saying something completely different).
  • They are currently in court fighting consumers over the issues mentioned in point 1.
  • The new price guarantee doesn't include fees or taxes. One of their current fees is to recover costs for "complying with legal obligations, 'charges imposed on us by other carriers for delivery of calls,' and the cost of leasing network facilities that are needed to provide service", per Ars. In other words, literally basic costs of doing business. But under this new scam scheme, that fee and others can continue to increase whenever they want without them "breaking" the "price guarantee".
  • And, as others above have mentioned, this isn't a price decrease when you factor in the fees and taxes that are no longer included in the sticker price.
Do better.

Recently upgraded to their new plans. It doubled my hotspot data while keeping all the same benefits as before, and saved me $5/month even after their new rate increase.

…Well with the weakening USD let’s just say you could buy a lot of marmite.
Our currency has crashed against the USD - we are near historic lows, so that’s not gonna help.

Its like every other month they think of a NEW idea to try to get more money out of you no matter what, ANOTHER new plan (taxes and fees are not included also on these new plans), disgusting and greedy, wish there was laws to stop BS like this

It is a cancerous business tactic, I agree. I own my phone outright now after paying it off, but I still can't get a mobile plan cheaper than $85/month through my provider. The cheaper providers often are just resellers with less coverage, so it's a no-win situation.

Providers make these plans sound like a "good deal" by including large data buckets, but the reality is — which they know! — is that most people will never use up that much data, but they've gotta pay the monthly fee anyway.

Don't fall for it.

How much would T-mobile charge for 470GB per month mobile data or hotspot (customers choice) unlimited calls (including most countries) and unlimited text, all on 5G? That costs me just over $30 in Australia!

(Edit) I forgot to mention that I use between 3.7 and 4GB per day of data.
Thats only 4g hotspot, once you use it up you auto swap to 3g hotspot which is unlimited for all plans. I have 50gb grandfathered from sprint And i use a ton using my phone to hotspot youtube all day at work. I go way over 50gb and never notice a drop in performance

The 50gb usually lasts me maybe 2-3 days (hd streams kill data asap, specially on things like netflix where you cant control quality) youll get a text saying you hit the cap and thats really it ime

The cheaper option is get there base crap plan and just pay for 5g internet box which u get unlimited 5g speeds all the time no matter how much data you use

Looking at this graph and information, wind the clock back 15 years or so and things weren’t looking good for T-Mobile. I think the AT&T merger was a discussion point then too

If you have either of the plans it’s replacing there’s no additional cost…

If you don’t, then don’t switch plans. No need to throw a tantrum over something that doesn’t apply to or make sense for you.

Wow I that seems very complicated. Price differentiation for 55+, for veterans, first responders? Hotspot data? Premium data (what’s that). What else? Teriffs for foreign data?
Wow how can something so simple, become so complex.

We don't have 3G in Australia - it was turned off last year. Old and out of date.

Someone buried the lede on this. Switching from Go5G Plus to Experience More is the exact same service for $10 less/mo, but with 10GB more hotspot AND the 5-yr price lock?

Portugal:
basically unlimited data on 5G for 16-20 euro's. And even in rural areas very good coverage with national operators. šŸ‘

What? As a European I pay 25,- for 5G unlimited data / calls in Europe + US

Digi is busy shaking up the Belgian market, it's about time. For just €5/month you get unlimited national, then €0.01/min for calls to the rest of Europe and 15GB. Over 15GB just €0.60 per 1GB. You can then use it like at home all over the EU. And no hotspot limit!

Even Tello is still expensive compared to European prices. Look at Italy, Spain, Romania etc. It's so cheap there. In many countries you can get home fibre 500Mbps up and down for just €10/month.

I’m a 6-7 years Tmo customer on an essentials plan ($100/mo for 3 lines unlimited) and I’m just waiting for the letter/email saying my plan has been discontinued and I’ll need to pick a ā€œnew plan with more featuresā€ like one of these. I don’t want more features; I want what I signed up for.
