    Hi all,

I am using T-Mobile on my iPhone (firmware 1.1.4) after following some guides and installing a 5 buck T-mobile SIM card. Do you know
how to get T-Zones to work ? Here is the situation :

    1) During activation of the SIM card I created a profile at T-mobile.
How do I add T-zones to my prepaid account ? Do I have to add
    more money first ?

    2) My profile does not have a purchased phone (and available options
do not have iPhone neither). Everytime I tried to do something,
a screen shows up asking which model I have. Should I care ?

    3) About the T-zones patch. I have BSD 2.1 installed and
there is no way to install the T-Zones patch. It show an error

"1.1.3 has its own T-Zones patch. Look for that instead"

even though my firmware is 1.1.4. Any suggestions ?

You need to call them to add T-zones. (at least I had to, I couldn't find it online, but they are very helpful, and the lady was actually very excited when I told her that I was unlocking an iPhone haha)

I am on 1.1.4, and I am still using the 1.1.3 Tweak, it works great.

Yes they asked, and I was just honest with them, they had no problem with me using it for an iPhone.

You will have to wait for a few hours for it to be active. I had the E icon, but it would not connect, as soon as I installed the tweak it worked immediately.

So, are you using prepaid? T-mobile to go?
And you can add $5.99 T-zone for to go?
    Really?

I just called. They said the only data plan for prepaid is sidekick. But sidekick plan doesn't work with iPhone. So let me know what you find out!

I think you just need to add the service to your account and
then hack the phone. T-mobile should not care as you are paying
more...but this is one of the reasons I started the discussion.
I felt someone would dismiss my call as soon as the word
    "iPhone" were mentioned...

I heard T-mobile CSRs are usually excited when you say you are using iPhone.
If you are using prepaid, i.e. to go, they cannot add this service because it is only available to postpaid. They said I have to convert to postpaid plan in order to use it.

Same story I've gotten from multiple t-mobile reps. t-zones is only for monthly plans. You can add it if you use their 'flexpay' service, which allows you to go month to month with one of their plans, no long-term commitment. You just have to have your own phone. Which, you obviously already do.

Is flexpay more expensive or it is the same price as regular plan?

Same price, from what I can see, you just prepay for the month. I think there's a $5 admin fee per month unless you set it up to autobill your credit card or draw from your bank account.

It's surprising to me how competitive the pay as you go plan is, though. The base talking plan is 29.99, which with tax works out to more like $40 / month. That's 300 minutes, and free weekends. For 40 bucks, you would get 400 minutes of talk time with the pay as you go plan, and all of those minutes roll over to the next month if you don't use them (they last a year as soon as you've bought more than $100 of minutes). Unless you talk a ton on the weekends, or need to add the t-zones plan, I'd bet that most people would actually be better off with the pay as you go plan.

Anyone know why the sidekick plan doesn't work with the iPhone?

Probably because the sidekick uses dedicated servers and software, so the plans are specific to the sidekick devices.

Yes. But you can still add sidekick plan to your iPhone but you will only be able to use the SMS function.

Exactly. I thought about it, and it occurs to me that I pay less than 10 cents per min on my to go. 29.99 plus tax and fees for 300 min is actually more expensive, if I don't talk that much.

I will keep using wi-fi instead. I have wi-fi at home and at school, so, covered most of the time.
