I really hope I can say the same. Only saving $30/month below what I had on Verizon. The problem is, over the last 2 weeks since I switched to T-mobile I'm LUCKY to see above 5 Mb/s download, occasionally getting to 20-30. Verizon it was constantly above 30, and normally at 70+, up to 150 Mb/s. Pretty disappointed so far. Main reason I switched was because Verizon was just pissing me off as a matter of principle (customer for 16+ years and they aren't willing to offer any kind of deal on a new phone). Guess I will have to deal with this for a couple years.

Is T-Mobile still requiring that ridiculous $300 deposit on the 64GB iPhone x and $430 deposit on the 256 gigabyte version?

Whereas AT&T Verizon and Sprint I checked every store and they were zero down to get the iPhone x, only T-Mobile had this high deposit requirement, no matter if you have top best credit score etc...

Oddly enough, a larger deposit actually helps you at T-Mobile. You can't "jump" to a new device until you pay off half your phone. The deposit counts towards what is paid off, and if you make your payment on time you will likely get the best pricing on what you jump to. So the worse your credit the sooner you can get the next gen device.

Although, there may be some relationship between credit score and wanting the next gen device. Hmmm.

Sorry to hear that.

I left att for similar reasons. I was a customer since 1999. Told them I was thinking of leaving to TMOBILE and they basically said “and?”.

Obviously I checked how good service was in my area before hopping over and it actually seemed faster than att.

At the time there was a 3 lines unlimited everything(hd video included and 10gbs of tethering) for $100, + trade in old iPhone for the new iPhone 7(+), Plus 20% employee off your bill for life discount promotion going on.

My att bill went from $200+ a month to $80 flat every month plus new iphones(at the time).

Also the LTE usage limit increased from about 28 gbs a month to about 50(?). Both of which I never get close to.

I have a 770 credit score and been with T-Mobile 2+ years, never once missing a payment, aways paying well ahead of time each month. And they told me the iPhone X has a $300 deposit for everyone no matter what.

But I can get a Note 8, or iPhone 8 Plus, or LG V30+ for zero down from T-Mobile.

I know the iPhone X is more expensive than the Note 8, but not a huge difference, do why does one phone require a $300 deposit, and the other phone zero ?

Cost of the iphone 7 devices are not included because they are paid for and used. If we are doing that, are we going g all the way back to our first phone ever? They sell all day long for $350 on swappa. Your min cost of new line for 2 months is wrong. I won’t use any data on that line so with $20/per line plan plus $10 kickback each month, I’m looking at $20 for 2 months. Prepaid card is $700, not $550. How could you manipulate that for your scenario, seriously? What are you, a politician? We are at +210. If you take out the cost of iPhone 7s, and I don’t know how you can’t, unless we are going back to ground zero with first phones, we are at plus $1,310. Cost of one iPhone X.

Ok listen, I tried having patience but your tone obviously is that you're talking down to me. So if there was misunderstanding on my part, it's because you're not articulating very well. Really you're making no sense. You said:

"I bought 2 iPhone 5s on eBay $45 each."
When? What did you use if for? Is this for the BOGO trade in? Was it for some other trade in?

"Add a line and cancel in 2 months."
In the terms it clearly states that it has to has to be a Tmobile One plan. The cheapest plan shown on their website is $40 per line. With it being a smartphone that this BOGO is for, you are required to have a data plan. So cheapest plan is $40*2 months=$80. EDIT: I think I understand what you're saying about $20 for an additional line with the total in mind compared to whatever you're paying total now. But that depends on the # of lines, but assuming you're saying $20, you must already have at least 3 lines.

"Sell my 2 iPhone 7s for $350 each."
I'm not arguing the price at all but you make it sound as if you'd be getting these iPhone 7's using this current BOGO. If not, you can say that these are iPhone 7's you already have.

"$1400 in ($350*2+$700 card)."
You'll only get $700 if you purchase an 8 or better. Since you haven't mentioned which phone you're doing a BOGO on, we have no idea if you get 700 or 550. Again, the $550 I used was from their terms clearly stating that if you purchased iPhone 7's for this BOGO, which you make it sound like you are, you only get $550 back.

"$110 out ($90 for 5s’s + $20 extra line for 2 months($10 kickback discount) Net of $1290, the cost of one full 256gb iPhone X. = True boo."
As for the kickbacks, I have no idea what that is or why you get it or think you'll get it. Please share with the rest of us how to save $10.

You very well could do all of this but you just aren't clear at all on what you're actual plan is because you're talking about 4 phones total. It makes it sound like you're boiling all 4 phones down to 1 phone and it's still unclear which one is the BOGO set. I'm all for a good deal but the plan you laid out isn't coherent for anyone to try and follow to see if it actually would be a good deal

Switching to t-mobile has been one of the biggest money savers I've made in the last year or so and as a service they consistently provide promotions and service updates.
I completely agree with you here! Wife and I have 2 unlimited everything lines costing $80 per month. Only issue is the occasional lack of service range while we travel, but no problems in our area.

Bull! I JUST switched over to T-Mobile from Verizon to take advantage of the BOGO for iPhone 8 Plus. I wanted to get the X, but that wasn't included so I got an 8 Plus when we got my wife's new phone.

Since this starts on the 12th, I wonder if I can return one of my 8 Pluses and get an X. Will have to call T-Mobile. Less than one week out of the return period too.

If it’s a week out. Your locked in. I’d forget the iPhone X. The iPhone 8 Plus is an amazing phone. The x pretty much just has the Face ID. I’d take a hard pass

Officially? No. But I assume it lets them advertise a low monthly cost without having to take a hit on hardware.

ONLY thing I don't like about the 8 Plus is the size. As you say, it's an amazing phone! Decided to not even bother, the X isn't worth the extra $200.

No Coachgq, we aren't "going back to your first phone ever." You are the one showing incorrect math. You don't have to show all costs back to the beginning of time.... but you must show all the pieces that are part of this transaction, so if you are counting the GAIN from selling i7's you gotta include the COST to acquire them. Your math on this transaction is still wrong if you do not show the acquisition cost of the i7's.

If Santa's reindeer pooped out two free i7's under YOUR tree that's great, you can include the +350 for selling them used, but the real math for everyone else would include SOME cost.

If your argument is that u don't have to show the cost of phones that are "used and paid for" then why are u bothering to show the cost of the i5's? You're being inconsistent there!

Dude you are ADMITTING you PAID SOMETHING for the i7's, but NOT including that cost in your math. Several folks on this forum have pointed out that OBVIOUS MISTAKE. Either show the acquisition cost or you cannot count the $350 per phone as "free gain."

Let me guess, you do your own taxes too?

Yep! And I get end up at zero refund and zero owed. Crazy how that works. How does my cost to acquire the iPhone 3g not go into the transaction. I mean I used that to sell and pay for the cost of the iPhone 4. Then used the 4 to buy the 5, the 5 to buy the 6, and the 6 to buy the 7. Not sure how you say we shouldn’t use all that cost of acquisition.
But then again I’m arguing with a supposed adult who talks about “reindeer poop” so really, I’m not sure you understand.

Whoa there!
N-E-V-E-R did I question your adult-ness or personal character, as you just did to me. Just the math. Sorry you cannot see that.

1 - I didn't attack you, I pointed out your own contradictions and incorrect arithmetic result, which is still wrong.
2 - Several other posters here (other than myself) have also pointed that out to you.
3 - Another poster here (not I) has pointed out your rude tone.
4 - You say "arguing." Neither I nor the other posters had any problem with you, just your math.

And, yeah, I did try to lighten it up with a humorously silly illustration showing how the acquisition cost of the prior phones is NOT ZERO as you claim (since your own math was inconsistent on that point) but you have seized upon that and ONLY that, decided that it justifies name calling.

(Great Scott!! Has no one ever used hyperbole on a blog before? Heavens to Betsy!)

No thanks, I won't engage you any further. Others have tried and you were snotty to them, also. Bye. Have a nice day!

MODS: Please see my separately emailed request. Coachgq can be king of the blog.
