My daughter lives in an off-campus apartment with an ATT WiFi router that was failing. She got a replacement and was told to return the old box but procrastinated. The other day I received a call on my ATT iPhone and the display said “Spam Risk” with a location of Chicago. I answered it anyways. Turns out the call was from ATT customer service and they were asking when their router would be returned.

Seems like ATT still has some work to do getting this call verification thing going.

Amazing how carriers let spoofing go on for so long. Makes you think they were profiting somehow.

Scammers are getting more clever. I got a phishing text trying to impersonate Amazon. It was done really well and I can see how that could fool people that are not really paying attention. I did let my kids know about it and warned not to click on the link in the text message.

The number used is probably a Google voice number. Basically a burner number. I did report it to the FTC anyways.
