I transferred from an iPhone 11 Pro Max to a 12 Pro Max Factory SIM unlocked. The T-Mobile eSim did not transferred. The option to transfer a Phone Plan stated "this plan cannot be transferred". I called T-Mobile and the agent tried to activate my line using the EID of the 12 Max Pro. He tried multiple times, using three tools at his disposal and stated the EID was simply not recognized by the T-Mobile system.

The T-Mobile agent made a 3 way conference call with Applecare. The issue was escalated to a carrier department. Apple opened a case but was unable to resolve. Apple insisted this is a T-Mobile issue. T-Mobile stated the number is simply not in their database and comes up as unrecognized.

Luckily I had a spare unactivated T-Mobile SIM (LTE but so far showing 5G) from an older phone, and T-Mobile activated the line with it while, and if, they figure out the eSIM issue. The iPhone 12 Pro works perfectly except for the inability of T-Mobile to activate the eSim. Status now is there is an escalation at T-Mobile and at Apple.

Any one heard of such an issue?

I have T-Mobile and my eSIM transferred from my 11 Pro to my 12 Pro during setup without any issues. Both the 11 Pro and 12 Pro were purchased unlocked from Apple.

I had the same issue, I went thru Tmobile Twitter support and the rep transferred my eSim and plan from my 11 to iPhone 12 after giving them my EID... (iPhone 11 was using an eSim and new iPhone 12 is using eSim now).
