Signing-up for the free 200MB/month tablet plan makes you a T-Mobile customer...

I hope this counts as an account. If it does, anyone with a cellular iPad should sign up with T-Mobile just to get the free account. This alone makes paying more for a cellular iPad worth every penny.

The free 200mb plan is not a qualified plan.

It looks like MLB's policy is "no refunds on the unused part of a cancelled subscription". :(

Oh well... if anyone else has better luck than I did, I'd like to hear about it.
I just shot them an email and just told them straight out that T-Mobile is offering me a free year and that I already paid for this year. Basically asked them if it was possible to get a refund or get credit for a future season. Waiting now for their reply. Wont hurt.

I got my cancelation/refund request approved. The season hasn't officially started yet so you should send an email. Couldn't hurt to ask!

You guys are right - it doesn't hurt to ask (as you've demonstrated). I've sent off an email to their support desk... hopefully I'll have as good of luck as you guys did!

Follow-up: Yup, they're giving me a refund! Now I just have to wait for April 3... I have been watching a few spring training games, but for $109 I can just listen on the radio.

Wow, this is a great deal. We love MLB.tv and have been subscribers for years. But on AT&T now, so can't take advantage. As soon as my one daughter finishes college (she's in a very rural area) I am going to look at moving out family to T-Mobile. I had them for work for the last year and they weren't that bad... especially with free international text and data.

I switched from ATT and am quite happy with their service. I got unlimited data and 14gb teatehring fro about half of what ATT charged. Coverage has been as good as ATT, in some case I now get coverage when I didn't with ATT and have only hit a few dead spots. Overall, coverage is a wash because I get good coverage in all the places I regular visit.
You might want to look into a prepaid provider that offers coverage where she is and a cheap plan for your daughter and make the switch if the savings are enough; heck you might even be able to switch, leaver her on ATT and still come out ahead. Some of the virtual operators use ATT's network anyway you might see no change in coverage.

I would gladly pay MLB $130 a year for a streaming package if it included local market games. I'd even accept watching the regional sports channel's commercials on the stream. But I am finished paying for a cable/satellite subscription in order to watch a local team whose stadium I am paying for.

As others have said, VPN's are your friend. A friend of mine uses one to watch Red Sox games at home in Boston; I use one to watch Netflix when I am overseas.

Sorry, I consider that theft, and I'm not going to participate. If they decide that my dollars are worth allowing me to watch in market games I will subscribe. If not, they'll lose my business.
