I just have a question. idk if its been answered before but is the t-mobile store iPhone unlocked or locked when paid for in full? I know EIP would be locked

T-Mobile iPhone 6 full price from T-mobile store unlocked or locked?

Hello guys, so you both have bought the iphone 6 from Tmobile store and it was unlocked??

I've opened a post speaking about it:

https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=19897955#post19897955

I bought 2 iPhones 6 from Tmobile store, but one of them are locked!!!

Do you guys ever heard something like that? Any advice, will be more than welcome, thanks

Did you buy from the Apple Store? Because they are definitely unlocked.

good question...I have a t-mobile (6) phone plan and kept my verizon (5c) family plan bc it still has the unlimited data. I use under 500mb a month so the 1gb on T-mobile has sufficed. I'd like to use my verizon sim card on the t-mobile 6 iphone if I travel so I can use unlimited data.

Can you just switch sim cards between 2 iPhones with out extra fees etc??

If you buy the off contract from the Apple store, it's unlocked. If you buy it from T-Mobile store , whether it's paid in full or EIP, it's locked.

It is locked.
I bought and paid full price w/o contract from B&M T-mobile store and it is locked (I put my old ATT Sim from iphone 5 it did not work).

All you need to do to get it unlocked is put $100 to your T-mobile (pre-paid) account (you gonna spend it anyway, T-mobile has very good no-contract plan) and call T-mobile (611) ask them to unlock the phone, after 24h you get email with instructions. I got my phone unlocked after 4 days since the day I had it in the store. Isn't it same as apple factory unlocked which might be released at the end of 2014, save ~ $150 LOL

It locks itself when you turn it on with the T mobile sim... (if bought at t mobile) people have tested this already

@julyzerg: Thanks for your input !
I did not understand some parts. Did you indeed spend the $100 in credits? I how you got this unlock process just after 4 days ? in the policy I saw it is 40 days (or 1 year, depending on the type of account, which i did not understand also haha)

1. Buy the iPhone full price from a T-Mobile retail store.
2. Add $100 or more to the T-Mobie pre-paid SIM card.
3. Use the phone.
4. Call T-Mobile customer care and request an unlock.

You can also chat with them online. I did that and they got it done for me. Took 2 days and got confirmation in an email.

Yes it base on your plan, but as long as you paid full price for the phone it's very easy to get it unlock.

I am on T-mobile prepaid so it was easy like I said, $100 will cover my next 2 months of service, I am on $45/month unlimited text, talk + 2G LTE data.

if you are on monthly you probably have to wait 40 days and other things..., but heck they are as same as prepaid plan except you pay at the end of the month, in fact it is worst than pre-paid lol, initially I was on the $50 monthly plan but I switched to prepaid because the monthly does not allow "short-code" feature (where you can text smt like "BAL" to your bank to get your account balance, or subscribe your number to get coupon, discount from shopping stores) and of course I can get the phone unlock faster.

Reason I did that was I want the iphone 6 right away without waiting months for it to be shipped or drive 2 hours to apple store just to know they sold out bla bla... I just sat at home called several T-mobile stores to see if they have it and come to get. Otherwise buy it from Apple (Contract free t-mobile) it comes out unlocked.

I'm glad it worked for you! Thanks for sharing. I will try this method! Good night

Locked. It can be unlocked after 45 days of service with a T-Mobile plan.

Get T-Mobile iPhone from Apple , unlocked out of the box with no service requirement.
