T-Mobile on an officially unlocked iPhone 4 Guide

Wait, sorry I am not getting your post lol. So did you just cut your SIM card and buy a micro sim on top of that? I hear you can cut it and it's easy, but I have no idea how to do that and don't want to attempt in case I mess up.

I purchased 1 of 64gb factory unlocked for Christmas to some one, and she exchanged for 32gb. She wanted a brand new micro sim, so $10 was paid at Tmobile

After saw that 4s, yesterday, I decided to get me 32gb factory unlocked in white as well at local apple store, and then asked the rep to provided a free spare micro sim, which I can use to measure for cutting :p. He told me there is no unlocked microsim card. I took the at&t micro sim.
Went home, used it as a measurement. Voila that 100% works out.
However, both of ours are still not function on tmobile mms (have not try any file editing yet). She wants to return and keeps the money :p

After edit the file and adjust its setting, my iphone 4S unlocked is officially work on Tmobile MMS :p
Told the girl bring her 4s over for me to fix

my settings as follow:

Tap on Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network
Adjust the settings as follows:
Cellular Data APN: wap.voicestream.com
MMS APN: wap.voicestream.com
MMSC http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy 216.155.165.50:8080
MMS Max Message Size 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

Okay, MY problem is that I can send pictures to people who have iMessage or whatever. I can't send photos to anyone else, in general. However, I can receive pictures. (I followed dontwalkhand's first post, those MMS settings)

So strange... Help?? :confused:

You have to edit the text file, that is how I got mine working. You can't just type in the info in the settings screen.

It's really simple to do, I'd give that a try.

I am sure it's hit or miss w/ most people. I had to type in the setting and I think it's working now. I also wanted to do the iBackup thing but for some reason I couldn't download it for Macs.

Hey when you activated your T-mobile walmart SIM, did you do it online at http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/ActivateCodes.aspx?

If so, did you put in the dumbphone's IMEI and serial and everything as per normal?

tl;dr jist regarding your question.... this particular promotional plan has to be activated either at Walmart (in store on online) or via T-Mobile online via the link you posted. I used my 4S IMEI without issues but one can also use 99999999999.

Thanks for your posts man! They are great! A few questions if you don't mind!

1) I ordered the Nokia 1616 dumbphone from Walmart, cos it's the cheapest. I won't be using this phone of course. Does this qualify for the $30 UL plan?

2) I'm an international university student, so when I leave the US for 3 months during the summer break, I won't be paying for the $30 plan those months. I read that T-Mobile will revert my account to a PAYG plan. Since the $30 UL is for new activations only, does this mean I won't be able to get it back when I return?

3) When I get my Nokie 1616 and activate online using my iPhone's IMEI, pick my $30 UL plan and get my phone number, then how do I get the microSIM for my iPhone?

Is it possible to just cut the t-Mobile prepaid SIM that comes with the prepaid phone, and put tthat into the iphone? this is for the $30 UL plan..

How can we activate Group messaging / Group MMS in iPhone 4s using T-Mobile?

9. After your iPhone reboots go to Settings>General>Network and turn on Data Roaming

10. While still in Network settings go to >Cellular Data Network and enter "epc.tmobile.com" as the APN for Cellular Data and Internet Tethering

11. Enter the following for MMS settings:

APN: wap.cingular
MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
NOTE: Leave all other fields empty, if they have anything in them, delete it.

12. Reboot

So now that IOS 6 is out, has anyone tried this method with it? I don't want to upgrade if I will lose MMS!
 
I've got the settings down for what makes MMS work for iPhones T-Mobile. I'm just concerned that my iMessage and Facetime might not work anymore since I had to jailbreak to get them going properly.
 
I'm having issues with my MMS I can send pictures to iPhone's but not any other phones and the same for Group Messaging! Mine is a Unlocked AT&T IPhone 4S for Tmobile

These settings have been working for me without having to download anything on a computer..... thanks to Mr. Hill who helped me out on a previous thread regarding an MMS fix:)
 
Thank you for these instructions! I bought a slightly used 4s AT&T and the former owner was able to call up ATT and they factory unlocked it immediately! I am now on T-Mobile paying only $30 a month (or I could go for the $50 unlimited web/ text/ minutes) with NO CONTRACT! Your instructions allow me to be able to use FaceTime and MMS woohoo! What a beauty. First iPhone and I love it. Most places I only have EDGE speeds but 3G does pop up from time to time. Also, T-Mobile is expanding their 3G and 4G network so this should improve even more in the next few months. Thanks again! :)
 
My wife's AT&T iPhone 4 is no longer under contract so I asked them to unlock it. Then we just upgraded her to an iPhone 5. Can I use the unlocked AT&T iPhone 4 on t-mobile? If so what are the reasonable/cheap plans? I currently have a pay-as-you-go t-mobile phone. I'd be happy to just cut that sim to a microsim and use it in the iPhone 4 if it would actually work. I don't necessarily care about cellular data, though I'd be willing to pay a bit more (e.g. $30 per month) if there were some reasonable plan.

Yes you can, and yes you can can. Cellular data will work just fine, even on 3G by the end of this year.

Can you give me the idiots guide on what to do? When I did an online chat with t-mobile they told me I had to sign up for a 2-year plan to get a microsim and 4G plan to use with my unlocked iPhone 4. At the moment I have a pay-as-you-go phone and SIM ($100 for 1000 minutes). If I cut that to a microsim can I use it with t-mobile and the unlocked iPhone 4?

I'm also willing to pay a bit more to get cellular data, but not the $60+ at&t wants. I also don't really want to do a contract with t-mobile when this iPhone 4 is already unlocked. I very much appreciate some feedback on the not-completely-obvious options.
 
I have done everything this instructs... but my imessage is still not working.
My Apple id is entered. & my email and phone number show up in the options box, but i cannot select my phone number, it is tented grey.
And when i simply turn on imessage and select "ok" when additional rates apply message comes up, it stays on... "Waiting for activation..."

HEEEELPPPPPP!
