Can I just get the sim for $4.99 (it comes with 10 minutes preinstalled - $9.95 less $5.00 web only discount) and then go on-line and get my plan or do you have to have a plan first?

With just the sim, do you get a T-Mobile number or do you transfer an existing Verizon number when you get T-Mobile setup?

    Geeze you expect a lot!

If you're asking if you can use a new SIM from T-Mobile in an unlocked iPhone, then yes, you can just get a pre-pay SIM from them. I have one.

I'm pretty sure that you can transfer a number if you want to. However, I don't know if you can do that online. You might have to arrange it over the phone. Perhaps someone else knows...

Have you thought about data? I'm trying to figure out what pre-pay data plan to get. I've posted the question here, but no reply as yet.

I'm only in the States for a few weeks out of the year, so I don't want anything that charges me when I'm not using it. However, I'm addicted to all-the-time internet access now, and I'll be jonesing if I don't have it.

Munroe, I'm one of those old farts whose brain cells are fast going south on me and I trust all the geeky kids on this forum with the answers and the want-to to share attitude so ya I guess I do expect a lot. Most of them have forgotten more at 20 than I ever knew anyway :p

I just got off the phone with T-Mobile, got a free phone with bluetooth headset, 600 minutes plus 400 text msg (she said hey, just take the free phone (Nokia 6301), take the sim out and sell it and the headset if you don't want them).

1 Year contract, $39.95 + $4.95 have to wait to sign up for the $19.95 data plan. And yes it did come with a phone number and she said that I could pull my old one if I wanted to once I got the phone.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it. :p

Sounds like a very expensive plan. AT&T seems cheaper.

Could be but since there is no ATT where I live, guess what? To have an iPhone it meant going with T-Mobile.

I pay $65 (without taxes) to Verizon every month and get basically nothing so its only a few dollars more. :D

I have the same thing I think. It is $40/month for 1,000 anytime minutes, free nights and weekends. Then $4 for text messages, and $6 for the unlimited data package. So all together $50 before tax. AT&T can't touch it. The cheapest iPhone package only offers 450 minutes for $60/month with only 200/month. Where is AT&T cheaper?

Even if they were cheaper their absolutely retched customer service is enough to unlock and use T-Mobile.

OP: If your looking to save some coin you can cancel the $20/month data package and add the TZones data package for $5.95/month. I have that and it works wonderfully.

Good on you! Enjoy your iPhone, and I hope T-Mobile works out for you. (Sounds like you don't have a choice.)

    Cheers!
