I think you're pretty wrong on both counts. Read the terms of both offers, and actual posts from those who've gone through this. You may have got a rep who'll bend the rules a bit, but don't count on it.

I suppose I'm just basing this on my experience from exactly what you were asking to do.

If you buy new iPhones on September 8th then you may be within the return period when the new iPhones become available. I'm not sure if T-mobile charges a restocking fee but it may be worth it anyway.

Hi, lets put some things to rest with the iPhone promo you have two options. Option 1 trade in ANY working smart phone regardless of carrier and get $216 OFF the Iphone=$12 a month credit but NO ETF. Option 2 trade in a working phone flip or otherwise and purchase one from TMO and port your #'s to get the ETF paid. Subsequently if your trade is above $216 the remainder will be put on your account as a bill credit with the iPhone promo. What the ads don't tell you that I know as a TMO rep is that if your on JOD you get priority when upgrading to the new 6's as well as lock in your $15 a month price. Also for those wishing to switch if you have a down payment with JOD on your next upgrade it will be $0 down out the DOOR.

Restock FEE's are a flat $50 for smartphones.

The traded in smartphone has to be from the same carrier that you are porting out of... FYI...

If you're trying to get your ETF paid, maybe. But if you're just trying to get in on Jump On Demand, then no, it doesn't matter.

The $15/month JOD promo is only for the 15gb versions right? Their website doesn't specifically limit it in the fine print, so arguably, it might apply to a 128gb version. Has anyone done this that can confirm which iphone 6 or 6+ it applies too?

Thanks!

The $15/month JOD promo applies to all iPhone 6's, it's $19/month for the 6 Plus. This is for all storage capacities, but $0 down for the 16Gb, $100 down for the 64Gb and $200 down for the 128Gb.

Can you trade in an old Blackberry when you sign up for JOD? Will that count as a smart phone? Can you sign up for JOD if you are already a TMobile customer? If I sign up now for the 6 Plus, 64 GB, how do I upgrade to the 6s Plus? Do I have to do it through TMobile or can I do it via Apple? If I have to do the JOD upgrade to the 6s Plus through TMobile, how long is the wait likely to be? I'm a TMobile customer, but I've always purchased my phones directly from Apple, so this is new to me...

Thanks!

I'm new to all this too, so not sure on some of your questions. You can definitely sign up for JOD as an existing TMobile customer - right now, all JOD has to be done in store. It remains to be seen what the process is for the iPhone 6S/6S Plus, I hope they've streamlined the process from what I read last year's debacle was. TMobile did say that JOD iPhone customers would get priority when upgrading to the new iPhone 6S. You have to do this with T-Mobile, I don't think buying directly from Apple would qualify for the JOD promotion.

Yes, you can trade in a blackberry for JOD. I myself have even taken in bargain bin $15 dollar Wal-Mart specials from AT&T as long as it's a smartphone it does not matter. As of this post T-Mobile is changing JOD probably for the new iPhone and SHIP TO ORDERS WILL NOW QUALIFY FOR JOD. Before the change it was instore only which was terrible if like my store you only get 64gb space grey 6 instock. Apple retail has the ability to do regular jump upgrades to my knowledge they can't perform JOD upgrades. As for the wait time all I have heard is that you get priority, they haven't specified how that process will work. Once I have more info in the coming weeks I will post about it.

Anyone know if I port from Verizon to a 16gb iPhone 6 and when the 6s+ is released, can I JOD to a 128gb 6s+ and just pay the extra $199??

Or am I limited to JOD to another 16gb 6s?

Thanks!

How do the offers for T-Mobile stack up now, in light of the iPhone 6s. As we inch closer to the holiday season, I'm back to seeing what works best financially.

Right now they're basically doing the same deal you were looking at, it's just $140. They way they break it down is $100 for two lines and $20 each additional line. The way the promo you mentioned (which expired) worked was $100 for two lines, $20 for first additional, $0 for the second additional, $20 for each consecutive.

I wouldn't be surprised if they offered something else at some point here before the holidays, though nothing yet.

Also, one thing about the etf payment is a large portion of that is actually a bill credit. In our case we are only getting about 1/4 of our etf paid in prepaid cards. It's a minor detail, but I thought I'd mention it. Fd kind of their way of locking you in for a couple of months, at least, after swapping over.

Since I have to pay the ETF anyways, I wonder if I'll be better off in unlocking my iPhones and using them on T-Mo's network.

That's definitely an option of you plan to keep the phones anyway. I'd pay your etf through att first, have them unlock, and then port over. I know it can sometimes take a day or two for unlocks (at least according to att), which is why I recommend getting that squared away beforehand.

We just switched right around when you posted and have been pretty happy. There are noticeably areas where we drop down to 4g, but there are also some areas we get reception where we didn't with ATT, oddly enough (though the 4g on TMO is much more prevalent than it was in att).

I'm not sure if you already know if TMO works for you, but if you don't, they also do a 30 day money back trial. Once your phone is unlocked you can just sign up, pop in the sim, if service sucks you just cancel and they don't charge you for any of what you just used. Used to be called "test drive" where they sent you a phone and everything but they've since streamlined it to make easier.

I don't recall if you're using the iPhone 6 or 6s? If it's the former, you're much better off by upgrading to the 6s because of the 700MHz (Band 12) support which is a huge part of T-Mobile's network expansion. You can trade in any old phone, get your ETF reimbursed, get on the Jump on Demand plan for the 6s, and sell your 6 privately.

I did read a rumor from someone that new plans were going to be introduced in October, but that was apparently not true. I'm sure at some point T-Mobile will have new plans, but you can typically change to those plans as an existing customer since there are no contracts. I switched from Verizon in early August to the $120/4 lines/10Gb each plan, and the coverage has been just fine (and I'm in a suburban/partly rural area). Overall very happy with T-Mobile; just switch and try it out for a few months; as mentioned above, if you decide to go back to AT&T, you can always get your phones unlocked by T-Mobile and pop in an AT&T sim card and you're good to go (likely get $100/line credit from AT&T to start new service in fact). No downside :)
