$30 option on T mobile

1. 100 min with unlimited text and web :(
2. 1000 min with unlimited text and 30mb of web. :(

VM $30
300 min with unlimited text and web but GSM locked

No great options.

100 minutes might be tight on your sole phone, but there are workarounds such as Skype...or bundling a digital voice home line with Internet and cable TV (if you'd have cable anyway).

Tmobile's $30 monthly plan is awesome. Can't wait until the reforming is complete

Come on TMO, take my money!!

I pay 30 a month for 5Gig and mobile hotspot. Sweet deal.

I barely break (or sometimes dont) 100 minutes a month, it is because of verizon to verizon calls are not included in allowance, as well as nights and weekends. Can anyone comment as to whether tmobile to tmobile is free with prepaid as well as nights and weekends?

No n&w or m2m for those prepaid plans

Has it been confirmed vm will lock gsm?

does anyone think this is a hint that tmobile customers will be able to purchase iphone with a 2 year contract? Or that the network is more compatible with tmobile but will need to be purchased at full price?

Aren't a big percent of their commercials anti-iPhone? Or am I mistaken?

What do expect when not having the iPhone is the number one reason T-Mobile attributes to subscriber loss?

As far as carriers go, I love T-Mobile. I have two iPhones running on a family plan for less than $80 a month with taxes. I expect when the next iPhone gets announced T-Mobile will be on board. The whole AT&T thing stopped it from happening earlier.

I think T-Mobile will give you a choice. Currently on T-Mobile T-Mobile just adds the price of the phone to your regular plan's price. When the phone is paid off, the price of the plan is reduced.

Can you point me where you can find the $30 monthly plan on the site? I swear they make it as hard as possible to find and compare the plans.

This is a prepaid plan. I'd also check out the value plans. Both can found under where it says shop.

Ironic, that the same week:
  • Apple is fined $2.5 million by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for false advertising the Ipad 3 as '4G' as the DC-HSDPA it maxes out on in Australia is not 'real' 4G (4G must be LTE in Oz); and
  • T-Mobile are installing in the Moscone Centre for promotional purposes its much slower HSPA+ network claiming it is, in fact, 4G.

in theory $30 a month is GREAT, but in practice not so much...

They're probably referring to the prepaid plan that is available on their website and from walmart. Here is a screen shot. Good deal if you can live with the low minutes!

Forget the about the low minutes, good luck with only being able to use 30 Megabytes of monthly data! You'd be bounded to WiFi for 99% of the time you want to actually maximize your iPhone's capabilities.

Lots of people would actually like the option of buying an iPhone without being forced to buy an expensive monthly data plan when they spend so much of their time around home or free public Wifi networks.

In other words, T-Mobile is offering a service people want. What a concept for a business!

Don't hold your breath for Magenta...

I will enjoy the day T-Mobile finally offers the iPhone because then it'll force the likes of AT&T and Verizon (and even Sprint somewhat) to offer much more competitive phone plan prices to customers for similar services.

Until then however, I wouldn't get too excited over this bit of "news" as T-Mobile has already said they won't be on board with the iPhone compatible frequencies until the end of the 2012 at the earliest.

"Low minutes"? T-Mo has two $30 prepaid plans:

- 100 minutes, unlimited SMS, 5 GB of 4G data, unlimited 2G data
- 1500 minutes or messages, 30 MB of data

You either get few minutes or few data, not both.

Anyway, I believe overage fees are 10 cents per minute, which means 100 more minutes for $10. That's reasonable. In fact, I would rather get a low minute allotment and be charged a reasonable amount for going over; this means I won't pay for minutes I don't use.

You know, that's not really how it's supposed to work. The carriers run the network, it's the device makers who are supposed to design their products to be compatible.

That would hold it T-Mobile operated a 3G network that was compatible with what the rest of the world operates. Which, alas, they don't. They decided to use a frequency that only they use (there isn't a single other network in the world so fas as I know that does 3G on 1700MHz). So it's not worth it for handset manufacturers unless they're being paid specifically for it.

Good luck thinking your gonna get the 4G iPhone for $30/month on T-Mobile when it comes out.:p

I think you are mixing up the two $30 plans. (Yes T-Mobile is confusing, but if you find a plan that fits your needs, then you can save a lot of money ;))

On "$30 Plan 1," which I believe you were looking at offers a bucket of 1500 minutes/text messages and 30mb of data - this plan sucks. It doesn't offer much value IMO. And other prepaid carriers/ MVNOs have better deals.

On "$30 Plan 2," which I was talking about (see the screenshot attached in an above post" you get 100 minutes, unlimited messages, and 5GB of data at full speed (they won't throttle you until after you hit 5GB). That's a great deal! Most people are paying around $30 for simply their 2 or 3 GB data plan on ATT and Verizon! This includes 100 minutes and unlimited messages. Great for some folks who can live with T-Mobile coverages and limited minutes.:)

This is the data only part of the family value plan. Text and voice is shared four family members and runs $80 a month.

I'm a T-Mobile customer with a Nexus One phone. Since I refuse to switch carriers, an iPhone isn't an option until T-Mo offers one.

In western Kansas there's not even 3G. But in Wichita, T-Mo has 4G over most of the city. Coverage isn't a problem.
