I got my iPhone X on release day, and restored it from backup. I'm lost as to why I can see voicemail messages, but when I go to play them, they don't work. Just acts like it's going to play, but then doesn't play anything at all. I've tried resetting network settings, made sure I was on the latest T-Mobile Verision, rebooting, restarting the iPhone, deleting the voicemails only to retrieve them and try to play them back, with no success. So I called T-Mobile. T-Mobile isn't sure why this is a problem, and they say the only thing is a restore to maybe see if that'll work. If that doesn't work then they suggest I bring it into T-Mobile for a swap but I'll have to wait till December to get me a new iPhone X. I don't think it's a hardware issues, obviously it's voicemail. So, software is all I'm thinking. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm the only one with this issue. I have tried to look on Google, and seems as if others are having the same problems even on different networks. Not sure if it's a restore issue, and it just didn't install properly or what. But, I'm trying to refrain from restoring to see if there's any possible work around to getting this fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone has any ideas as what I can do. Or if your having this problem also please reply and let me know I'm not alone. TIA for all those who reply!

Same exact issue with Verizon X. Has to be a software issue. Spent 1.5 hours on phone with Verizon. They reset Voicemail. I’ve rebooted, reset network settings multiple times and to no avail. They suggested wiping and starting over. Funny thing I noticed yesterday, when I went to record screen mode, the voicemails played - once while screen recording was on. Then stopped playing again.

I have had the same issues on AT&T Visual Voicemail on two iPhone X's. Spent 2 hours on the phone with AT&T tech. Only after Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings restored the ability to play VMs.

I Reset All Settings on my end and that seemed to have worked. What's so weird is when it's connected through BT in my car, the VM's seem to play no problem. So I wouldn't see why this isn't a software issue. Thanks for the tip though. Now we know how to solve the VM issues, I will gladly let anyone know what the solution is if anyone else has any problems. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Again, appreciate all the help. This worked for me. Thanks so much!

Mine disappeared last night, I had a small button labeled as CALL VOICEMAIL, which worked fine, but I wound up reseting networks, then calling it, got a VVM as expected, deleted it, back to the expected interface and operation.

Note I've had the phone since Nov 3, and VVM has been working up till yesterday.

Glad to have helped... this forum has saved me countless hours, so it's a no-brainer to contribute when I can.

Another friend of mine has had the same Visual VM issue on AT&T, so I have a feeling this thread will be around for a bit....
