This morning (before the 8.1 update) I noticed that I wasn't connecting to wi-fi calling. I went into settings and noticed the feature was turned off....I hadn't turned it off. I got an error message when trying to turn it back on. I thought maybe T-mobile had disabled the feature pending the 8.1 update. Since updating I can't turn it back on either. I searched on here and see the notes about not being able to have both wi-fi calling and the ability to take calls on another device enabled simultaneously....but that's not my problem. Anyone else having this issue?

Here's the screen that pops up when I try to turn it back on.

I have it too. T-mobile says it is a problem on their end and they are working on it.

Just out of curiosity, are you on a prepay or post pay plan? I'm on the $30 100min 5GB prepay plan. I also noticed when I logged in to my account that it says I have used all of my plan minutes for the month, even though I know that's not true. I'm wondering if they are having trouble with prepay accounts only? Seems as though it's working fine for some. A friend of mine on the same plan is having the same problem.

Wow, 5 gb for a month at $30?

That sounds like a good deal, especially if wifi calling doesn't count against your min.

That's the downside....it does count against your minutes. I don't talk much and use either Google Hangouts/Voice or Vonage to make VOIP calls when I do.

Here's a whole thread with the ins and outs of this plan:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1509895/

But I have Google Voice forward to my actual cell number for incoming calls....and at work I have spotty T-mobile coverage in my building, but solid wi-fi coverage.....wi-fi calling solved these issues for the 2 weeks I've had it! Hopefully they get it fixed soon!

Hmm it seems to be a problem for those on the $30 plan. I'm postpaid and haven't had any issues. There's a thread on the T-Mobile website about it now so they're definitely aware of it.

Do you have a link to that thread? Would like to follow it....

Wonder if it's only the $30 plan or all prepaid?

Thanks!

I actually noticed the problem yesterday morning before 8.1 release.

That's good to know (at least it's an additional data point) -- I know that wifi calling is incompatible with making calls from your mac/ipad, but that's turned off for me anyway.

Here's the Tmobile support forum thread about this issue: link

This really sucks....

Leave tomorrow for a week at a cabin in the mountains. It's out of T-Mobile's coverage area but has wifi so I was thinking all would be great.

Amazing how you can miss a feature you just got a couple of weeks ago.

T-mobile's lack of response is disappointing. Would be nice to find someone to at least acknowledge there's an issue and that it's being worked on. Instead I get a live chat customer service rep telling me that it "breaks his heart" that I'm having an issue. And tweets to Tmobile help even including the link to their own support forum thread just get me instructions to reboot my phone, reset my network settings and check my 911 address.

Hey T-mobile!!! There are lots of people having the exact same problem. It's not our settings, it's yours! How about "resetting YOUR network settings??"

This post made me crack up.
So true about the ridiculous language the chat reps use.
It's always an "amazing and brilliant day at TMobile" apparently.

So cheesy

A couple of times WiFi calling has dropped out but I put it into airplane mode and then turned Wifi back on. Seemed to fix it. On a post paid plan.

Yep....seems they finally escalated and resolved this! The forum linked earlier in this thread also indicates it's working again for most or all.
