So if I understood this correctly.

If you have 3 lines with this new plan, each month you are paying:

- $180 /m for 3 lines + cost of upgrade /m (how much is the cost of upgrading)?

The "cost of upgrading" would depend on which phones are chosen, if you are adding a line, etc. T-Mobile offers a variety of deals/discounts on phones.

Go5G Next is essentially T-Mobile's top level plan (unlimited premium data, 50GB mobile hotspot, Standard Netflix, Apple TV+, UHD streaming, Scam Shield Premium, voicemail to text, etc.) combined with an upgrade program similar to Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program but is open to phones besides iPhone.

I believe this would sum up the answer to that good question very well...

In other words, even family & friends will have the one bad apple that will burn up too much data (slowing it down for everyone else) or make a bunch of international calls at added cost but be slow to pay, etc. Friendships and even family bonds can break over money matters.

And much like Netflix putting the pinch on sharing access in different households, if the goal IS to extract about $115 per household, I would guess that mass embrace of a friends & family pool at many addresses would lead the cell phone providers to implement the same IF it cut into maintaining and/or growing the average.

IMO again: best option to all of these "new plans" that all revolve around extracting about $100-$130 per household is "just say no." MVNOs are generally using the same networks, the same towers, the same 5G, etc but can cost considerably less than the "big 3."
Do any of the large carriers pool prioritized data among all lines? I thought it was just by line. Also, international calling has never been an issue. T-Mobile has toggles that let you turn it off for all lines if you wanted to be safe.

If you're paying AT&T $125 a month for a phone and a tablet combined, something is wrong. Got an employer? Chances are you're paying $75 for the premium plan w/autopay and then $20 for unlimited data on the tablet. Don't have an employer? The unlimited extra plan is $75 with autopay without an employer discount. That pricing, is of course if you only have one measly line on the account (most people have 3 and get a per line discount too). Very few of the customers I deal with everyday have just one line on an account. Are you a first responder, nurse, or work at a doctor's office? Chances are you qualify for FirstNet, which is $45 for unlimited talk, text, data, hotspot, and gives priority services over EVERYONE with a cell phone, plus service technology that'll let your phone work when everyone else has an outage.

With the typical three lines, each phone is $50 a piece and the tablet is $20 with unlimited data, and that's only with an employer discount or an unlimited extra plan without discounts. The big boy carriers are aimed at families, business, military, first responders, and teachers. With the 25% discount for those professions and 3 lines on unlimited extra - each line is $37.50 each and the tablet is $15 a month - not exactly bank breaking.

But then again, it doesn't matter what you and I want -- it only matters what each individual wants.

Thats the thing I don’t need 3 lines. Show me how you build a plan on AT&T That I need for under $50 a month. I want 1 phone line with tablet and Apple watch. BTW your math is wrong that $85 price is after autopay discount. Without Autopay it’s $95 a month. I was on Autopay so my rate was $85 a month plus I did get the signature discount from employer FAN but that’s just a $10 a month discount.

So my phone plan came out to $75 a month plus $20 for a tablet and $10 for Watch. So that adds up to $105 a month then tack on the $15+ a month in taxes and fees and that’s how that bill comes out to $120+ a month.

Not everyone is a firefighter or first responder with a household of 3-5 plus people. I live alone and don’t want to buddy up on friends or relatives plans. I am paying less than $50 a month for a phone, LTE Apple Watch and LTE iPad combined. Wake me up when I can get all of that on big wireless.

T-Mobile plan and services were great 10yr ago. go5G-next vs. AmplifyOne (recent yrs with new plan names just to confuse us).

My AmplifyOne has 5-lines + pay extra screens for nextflix (total 4-screens) = $169usd and like everyone else comment here we are keeping our phone longer (3-4yr) my last 7plus for 7yrs until battery go weak on me and I changed the battery and use that phone as Smart Control device at home.

Easy math calculation…
* go5G-next = $100usd / line / month x 12 months = $1200usd / year

* my AmplifyOne = $169usd / 5lines / month x 12 months = $2028 / 5lines = $405.60 /line/year

And I pretty much get the other benefits within AmplifyOne. If I decide to get a new phone and pay all up front so I dont have to deal w/ monthly payment and my new phobe is UNLOCKED from the box
