T-Mobile today announced that its T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile smartphones will soon be available in more than 2,300 Walmart locations across the United States, significantly expanding T-Mobile's footprint.

T-Mobile devices will be listed on Walmart.com, though customers will need to visit a Walmart store to make a purchase. The rollout follows the availability of T-Mobile devices in Best Buy retail stores and the Best Buy website earlier this year.

Prior to becoming available in Walmart and Best Buy, T-Mobile iPhones were only available from Apple, Costco, or direct from T-Mobile's website and stores, which prevented customers from taking advantage of deals offered by brick and mortar retailers.
"In many parts of the country, limited competition when it comes to wireless service leaves some people with few options for plans or access to the benefits of 5G," said Jon Freier, Executive Vice President, T-Mobile Consumer Group. "5G for All means T-Mobile is bringing real choice and competition in wireless to many Americans. And even though online shopping continues to grow, we know that retail stores remain one of the primary places where wireless customers pick up devices and service. We're working to expand our retail footprint across the country to meet more people in more places every day."
Metro by T-Mobile smartphone displays will be available in Walmart retail locations on Monday, October 18. Standard T-Mobile smartphones and plans will be available in Walmart stores starting on Monday, November 1.

"Wow."

There's literally almost nothing for a current or perspective customer of either T-Mobile or Walmart to get excited about here. I am very happy that both companies were able to come to this business agreement. There? Are you happy? ?

One small correction: T-Mobile phones have been available in Costco for several years now. And often you can get the best trade-in deals there because the benefit is paid out via a prepaid card and not in bill credits over 2-3 years as they typically are from T-Mobile itself.

that’s good. Always seemed odd all the other carriers were available but Tmo never was.

BINGO

Have bought our last 3 phones at Costco. Pay the full price and get most if not all of the price back in gift cards. Just switched all of our phones over to ATT with the expectation I will move back to TM in November when the next deals come out. (getting $25 a month off two of the lines with BYOD)

At that point, I will take gift cards if they have them, or 24 month credits if that works better.

Well I wouldn’t go as far as “never”. I’m fairly certain I bought a T-Mo Nokia 3390 from Walmart in 2002 or 2003.

Lately, I just feel worse for being with T-Mobile after all these years. Oh John Legere, where at thou? Good for them I guess but this goes along with how bad the customer service has been.

Ordering phones through them this year might be a freaking zoo! Let's see.

As a long time T-Mobile user, I am glad to see them expanding into Walmart. Unfortunately, since the Sprint buyout, I feel they have been going down hill.

I wonder how much T-Mobile had to give up for this. Walmart is known for squeezing it's suppliers dry before eventually discarding them. I guess that T-Mobile is hoping to eke out a little profit with volume, not realizing that Walmart's demands will keep increasing year after year until they've squeezed out every last drop of profit for themselves leaving nothing for T-Mobile.

Was that colorful "14" always there in that spot?

I feel like that's new. I don't recall seeing it there before.

My info with TMO was hacked. I am glad Walmart customers have the same right for their info to be hacked as well.
Considering they won't even enable regular contactless payments (therefore enabling Apple Pay), forcing people to use a QR code payment system instead if they want to pay with their phones......sounds about right.

Who T-Mobile? Are you saying Apple Pay doesn’t work?
