Previous reports had pointed to a possible Final Cut Studio update at a rumored March 24th media event that had initially surfaced as a possibility for hardware releases. With the introduction of new iMacs, Mac minis and Mac Pros on March 3rd and yesterday's announcement of an iPhone OS 3.0 media event on March 17th, a March 24th event is looking increasingly unlikely.
See? It's hard of me to let go of the idea of the tablet running like an Air, but I would expect Apple to switch regular software over to a download service as well. The tablet plays the line, being an unknown quantity.
Are you trying to bring me down? Or do you have a grudge against me?

Basically I see the mini-tablet as quite a bit closer to the iPod touch than the Mac, and since existing iPhone OS apps are done by download, I would expect iPhone OS versions of iLife/iWork to be by download too (unless they're like 1 GB or something).
I see your point of the (mini-)tablet being an intermediate device, but if this were to happen I think it'll be a while before current boxed Mac software will go download. I would assume Apple would offer both options before going download only, if that's what their ultimate goal is.

I'm sure they will. They already allow you to download and use iWork as a trial. It's a small step to what many software companies offer- downloaded software and a physical disk in the mail for another $5 or $10. That system cuts out a lot of middle men and marketing as well as manufacture of product.
Well, as for this thread... no tablet/netbook today. Utter fail. But, I am sure most expected no such unveiling at this event.
