This is nice but I'm already doing all of that with EyeTV.

Good to see other companies helping people to cut the cable cord.

Disappointed it's taking them so long to roll out the app. I don't care if it's not perfect, just release one with super basic functionality now and update it when the advanced features are ready. I got a Tablo over the holidays and like it. It's good with AirPlay, but will be great with its own app.

Do you use Plex? If so, there is a Tablo channel available that works pretty well. There's no channel guide, but you gain the use of Tablo through the Plex interface and it is not 1/2 bad.

I don't but I've toyed with it in the past. So do I just put the Plex app on my AppleTV and then it will find my Tablo on the network? How do I add the Tablo channel? I don't really care about being able to browse or watch live TV but if it can play back my recorded shows, that would be great.

Yea, I went back this morning and found out that I haven't used plex since 2012! So I had to update the server app on my mac. I couldn't get the Tablo channel to install....it would just spin on the installation screen. Then I would cancel the installation and it would show as installed, but wouldn't actually show up on my channels. Long story short, I ended up deleting and re-installing Plex along with all of the old settings folders, etc. I finally got the channel to go through the installation, but it still doesn't show up in my channels. I've restarted my computer and still nothing. The channels I installed before and after the Tablo channel work fine (CNN and Comedy Central). So I guess I just gotta wait till Tablo puts out their app.

Not sure why you are having trouble...I installed the Tablo channel and it immediately worked for me on all devices.

Tablo is an over-the-air receiver and DVR. You hook an antenna up to it to get local broadcast channels. In most cities (or within about 40-50 miles of a city) you can pick up many free channels, including the major networks, all in high def.

Tablo hooks to a network and allows you to view the broadcasts either live or recorded on any device on your network.

Hmm, interesting. Might make me watch more OTA programming. I got the antenna to see if it works and it works great but haven't given Comcast the boot quite yet. My sticking points are wanting to watch The Talking Dead, which apparently I can only watch with a cable account, even though I can get Walking Dead with SlingTV. And MSNBC shows. Would miss all that. But maybe if I get back to watching more Judge Judy and less Donald Trump news I might be happier, lol.

The Talking Dead? Is that a political show?
