I have searched and can not find any Reference so I will post this Link.

I am going through the procecss of Tagging My TV Shows and Have found this App Really helps.

    iDentify

As is says at the website it does not replace MetaX but it does make things smoother for me. I name my Files after converting to MP4 like this ShowName S01E01.mp4 I find that this helps iDentify fill it the Episode Title and all the other information. Once it is done I then use MetaX to add anything that it might have missed (Usually just the Rating) it also does not add Art so I use MetaX for that as well.

    Cheers,
    Purp

I use VideoDrive for this purpose. It does not actually metatag your videos, but adds all metadata and cover art to iTunes. This way. it not only supports MP4 but all available video formats. I put my AVI videos right in iTunes with VideoDrive and they appear exactly as they should.

The best feature it has, is that you do not need to reconvert your videos to put them in iTunes or AppleTV. I have Perian installed on my ATV, and as soon as VideoDrive copies a video in iTunes, it appears on my ATV. Very neet.

    Have a look at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27326/videodrive
