Tahoe 26.3. Trying to change ALL folders to the 'original' Mac blue. Appearance>Folder color has a slider. When I move the slider to the left, it changes all folders to that blue, but only for a second, then reverts to the default darker blue. How to make it (folders) stay as the lighter blue?

change theme color to multi color then click use theme color

I may have misunderstood this, it's too obvious to be that, but.. i can't run into your issue any other way, so here goes:

If your screenshot is meant to illustrate the issue, ie i chose light blue but, guys, look to the highlighted appearance tab on the left, it's dark blue instead?
Your problem is theme colour, not folder colour.

If i have indeed misunderstood, care to explain? 🙂

I've played around with the Theme colors, "Dark" is not to my liking. I've gone through all the various settings and tried lots. I'll just have to live with this horrible liquid glass nonsense..

I'm not sure what this "Dark" setting is that you're referring to. The 'Appearance' or the 'Icon & widget style'? Either way, neither of those affect the folder color and doesn't matter what those are set to.

You need 'Color' set to Multicolor, and 'Folder color' set to Automatic. I've circled both of these in the screenshot below. All other settings are irrelevant.

If you're wanting to use 'This Mac' (dark blue) as the Color, then you'll need to drag the slider to a blue that's close enough to what you're after for the Folder color. Or use the Color Picker tool to grab the color of a blue folder from a screenshot.

This blue folder and system accents thing is annoying as hell. There’s more appearance options now and somehow less control of appearance.

I found the setting with 'sliders' to change the color, but it doesn't retain the blue that I slide/select. It immediately reverts back to the default ios26 color.
