Taika Waititi throws shade at Apple Keyboards

I wish these celebrity douchebags would just accept their award and shut up. I really don't want to hear their pathetic attempts at being snarky, their political views, or even their opinion of a laptop keyboard.

I’m gonna post this tweet every time someone say only a minority group of Macrumor members complaints about the butterfly and no one on the outside has a problem with them 😂

I agree with all your points but the last one.

I am glad Taika, of all people, stood up for us suffering Mac notebook users!

Heck I was hoping he'd speak up also about the all Thunderbolt 3 I/O & the removal of Magsafe next!

15"/16" should have 4 ports on each side since 2016.

* 2016 - 6 ports (USB-A, HDMI, 1GbE or other I/O) and 2 Thunderbolt 3
* 2017 - 5 ports (USB-A, HDMI, 1GbE or other I/O) and 3 Thunderbolt 3
* 2018 - 4 ports (USB-A, HDMI, 1GbE or other I/O) and 4 Thunderbolt 3
* 2019 - 3 ports (USB-A, HDMI, 1GbE or other I/O) and 5 Thunderbolt 3
* 2020 - 2 ports (USB-A, HDMI, 10GbE or other I/O) and 6 Thunderbolt 3
* 2021 - 1 ports (USB-A, HDMI, 10GbE or other I/O) and 7 Thunderbolt 4
* 2022 - 8 Thunderbolt 4 ports

If they did that then no one would be bitching about Thunderbolt 3-only design.

Why 4 ports on each side? Because the 2006 Macbook Pro 15" had 4 I/O ports on each side.

Now, if only all the device manufacturers decided on one single memory card form factor I'd be for a built-in memory card reader.

Not everyone uses SD memory card form factor. A built-in CF (not CFast or even CFExpress) card reader would be more useful for me.

Especially when you consider he's a write and the MacBook Pro/Air is likely the biggest single tool he needs to use.
 
Just bought a 13 inch 2019 Pro for school. Last Macbook I had was the 2010 Pro. It's an adjustment for sure with the butterfly. Don't know how I feel yet. At least reliability seems to have been fixed. I do think this kind of press will probably kill it off in upcoming versions for sure. Someone speaking out against it on Oscar night has more pull with Apple than anything a bunch of posters say.

Ooof. Next month is probably a refresh with the new KB. I have the 16” and the KB is excellent! Exchange it!!
 
As someone who had 3 keyboard replacements on a 2017 15" MacBook Pro in less than 2 years, Apple deserves any and all bad press on the keyboards. I got so fed up with it (downtime and hassle) I sold my laptop and got a different one.
 
I guess if he only sticks with the 13" models then he has something to complain about. He could always switch over to the 16" MBP if he wants the new keyboard now.
 
First off, people are laughing in the background so I don’t know how serious he is being. It might just be a put on. Secondly, he is talking about the feel of the keyboard not reliability. So, no news here. Some people like the feel of the butterfly keyboard and some don’t. There are people posting on MR that they prefer the feel of the butterfly to the new scissor keyboard on the 16in MBP, so it‘s personal preference.

I guess this is a big deal because the guy is holding an Oscar, but it really doesn’t make his opinion anymore relevant than someone else who spends a lot of time with their laptop.
