Moving to Tokyo in a couple weeks - can I just take my atv and use it there?

Contentwise I'm hoping to be able to access content with Japanese subtitling while my girlfriend improves her English. Japanese content with English subtitling would be great too.

Or would we be better off buying one over there?

It depends on what kind of content you're looking to access. You can use it for HomeSharing to access your personal library or itunes purchases that are authorized in that country. But you can't get Hulu, Netflix, or any streaming services that don't have rights in that country.

You can. Just change the DNS setting. 😛

Using unlocator ($5/mo) so I can use HBO go and Netflix - works great.

But I'd like to be able to rent movies from the iTunes store and have Japanese subtitles available (for my girlfriend) - is there a way to do this?
