take photos off ipod?

i had to do an erase and install.... and my external showed it backed up my pictures(like 400)(and my music too but i got those right off my ipod) and when i plugged it in... none of my pictures are there!!!!!!😡 😡 😡 .....
So i didnt put the full resolution option that itunes gives you... so is there anyway to get my pictures off my ipod?
