$400 at Micro Center is the real deal, but I guess we’re just going to ignore it. Also it’s not hard to come by if you check regularly, and from others reporting, Best Buy has been matching.

Then the price would easily double especially with current band prices…
Maybe in the short term, which is why we might not get as many hardware updates this year as usual, but if they were available in the retail channels and not just BTO, then they could drop in price over time at vendors like Amazon and Best Buy.

That's all? I bought the M4 mini 11 months ago for the same price. Upgraded it with a 2TB SSD for $299. Glad to see prices aren't any lower today.

Nice. By the time I decided what to do it was OOS at the Santa Clara Microcenter and BestBuy wouldn't price match.

Is that store with visiting? Haven’t had a chance to drop in since it’s opening. I’ve been to some MC in other states, never the SC location, though

Here's hoping they bump the storage with the M5s. Should be 1TB/2TB and not BTO.
With current RAM and NAND price increases, that will not be happening.

No other tech company will be doing such a thing and maintaining base prices. If they would, you will be paying $1,000-$1,200 minimum.

An excellent Mac at a very good price. I have the M4 mini and it a great computer. Should last for many years.

Sorry, I haven't visited any Microcenters myself. But it's the closest to me when I attempted BestBuy price match. In my mind, I imagine Microcenter to be like the old Incredible Universe stores. Anyone remember those?

Since it was OOS in Santa Clara, BestBuy wouldn't do a price match but instead offered to price match the $499 from BHphoto. That is not really a deal since literally everyone can get $499 Mac Mini from Apple Education site in the U.S. There is no school verification.

And if you time it…MicroCenter has them for 399.
That's if you are lucky to live near a Micro Center, which they have limited stores. The closest MC to me is in Miami, that's a 6-7 hour drive with traffic, one way. Add gas, tolls etc and Amazon is the much better deal. Shame really that there aren't more MC's in larger cities. Tampa, FL could sure use one.

Looks like the $500 deal on Amazon is now $550.
Again, anyone can get discount pricing and the Mac Mini for $499 through the Apple Education site in the US. No verification required and it has been like this for over 10 years.

I am currently a student but it wouldn't matter. I have ordered from the Apple Education Store site both as a student and non-student. Apple Store employees have even helped me place orders through the Education Store and still didn't ask for verification in-store. Apple doesn't care if you're a student, parent of a student, or a student of life.

Ironically, I did need to verify my student status for the Apple Music student discount. I don't use Apple Music but just wanted it for the associated free access to Apple TV+. For Apple hardware products, save yourself some money by going through the U.S. Education Store site unless you truly find a cheaper deal elsewhere.

Wait Micro center is matching Best Buy's price of $399, or is it the other way around? Also where does Mirco center have these at? I cannot find them online. Are they in store only or can they be ordered online?
