My macbook pro i7 has started to take a while to boot up for some reason and this appears which hasn't happened before.

I wonder what that progress bar is there for? Maybe go to system preferences, and chose your hard disk as the start up disk, and see if it speed things up a bit.

Firmware update or PRAM reset, I guess.

@OP: Does it do that everytime you boot? Repair permissions and verify the disk with Disk Utility and reselect your HD as startup disk and reboot

it didn't fix it? Any other things I can do?

I've had the same problem with startup... getting a Status Bar each time I startup ...
(Feels like I'm working on my old Performa575 from 1994 !)
Has anyone figured out why this is happening?
Disk Utility doesn't help.
I've looked at the the startup items, nothing has changed there.
I've checked the Apple Support Forums, it only says that there could be a problem with media on the HD.
I'm considering copying everything from my MBP HD to another drive... reinstalling wiping the drive clean, and reinstalling the Original OS from disk.... Anyone have any further info or suggestions??

Thanks
