I'm getting ready to take my late-2007 MBP in for warranty work (its still covered by the original 1yr warranty) because the superdrive no longer recognizes blank media. I have a few questions before I do, though:

1) Does Apple do a general health check when a unit is in for repairs? i.e. "Mr. Dazole, we ran some other checks and noticed that xxx is not working correctly. We'll take care of that for you also"

2) I would like to replace the HDD on the MBP. If I buy one, will they replace it for less than the normal cost since the laptop is going to be opened up anyway?

Any other things I should be aware of when I take it in? It will already be formatted with a fresh install of Leopard.

Thanks,
Dazole

All I can say is that I've never had such an experience.
