This will be my first time taking my Mac Pro to the Genius Bar. I am pretty sure I need my graphics card replaced. I have AppleCare, so do you think they will replace my card on the spot? I'm really hoping they do... Taking this heavy machine into the store in the first place will most likely be a chore.

I care about my baby. I only want the best. :p

Thanks!

They will do it if they have the part to do it, but if they need to order it then it could take over a week.

this maybe obvious but dont take your screen in as they will probably have screens in the back. you could leave you keyboard and mouse home too and just heave in the tower. youll probably have to check on that though.

This may or may not be obvious, but you may be able to have the Apple employees take the computer in from your car.
I only mention it because I see you're in NJ. I had to take my Mac Pro to the Genius Bar in Atlantic City which would require carrying it through the casino! But they told me after that I could pull up outside (in this case, at the boardwalk) and they would bring out a hand-truck and take it in for me. Saved me a return trip with the very heavy Mac Pro. Hopefully your local store is easier to get to.

It's actually in a high end shopping center on the other side of the boardwalk, so you park in the casino garage and hoof it across the casino to get there.
And there are quite a few places in there that are ready to take any winnings from you.

Good luck with them having the part in stock for you. If they don't have it you will either need to leave your machine or bring it back for service. I've had to do this with my G5 Quad and it is not fun.

*Also, good tips above to not bring monitor, keyboard or mouse. They don't need it and it will save you carrying some things.

When I had video card problems with my Mac Pro, I didn't want to lug it in to the Apple Store. I called Apple and had them send me a new video card. When it arrived I installed it, put the old one back in the box and returned it via prepaid shipping label. I didn't have to do without my Mac, and it was all covered under warranty.
Just a thought.

Spot on! That's the beauty of having a MP. If Apple is out of stock on a part they can send you back home with your MP and call you to pick up the video card or they may just send it to you to install yourself. :)

If you need to bring it in, call the store, ask them about loading dock location or if there is an area for them to pickup your Mac Pro. (You still need to park and go into the store).
