walking up stairs two at a time. I started doing that and, i don't mean to brag, but i now have the 2nd strongest calf muscles in my year. It is a good exercise and builds up muscle

I do that too! I've been at high school for the past two years now and I always skip steps when walking up stairs, even with loads of books .

I judge everyone who uses the elevator. I mean unless you have an injury, you should use the stairs. It scares me the kind of people who use the elevator at college. They should be the ones using the stairs

It's over!

50,450.

That's my estimate for the number of stairs I've climbed at the office since I started this thread.

As of this week, my daily stairclimbing escapades have come to an end, because I now work in a different office building. In the new building, you can descend stairs, but all the doors on upper floors are locked on the stairwell side, so I can't take the stairs up to my office. I'll have to switch that portion of my exercise program to some other activity, like Ultimate Frisbee or TV Remote Button Pushing.

In the meantime, if you need me, you should no longer look for me here in my old vertical gym:

I always take the stairs instead of the elevator if its 4 stories or less that I am going up, otherwise I feel lazy.

I thought of this thread when I went hiking today, on a trail that ended at the bottom of this almost-infinitely-long staircase. Can you see the top?

I couldn't resist the challenge, so up I went. Some of the steps are more than a foot high and the horizontal spacing is irregular so you have to watch each step. There are snakes in the brush, something I don't remember encountering in the office building stairwell, but there's a lot more fresh air!
