Tapatalk Support??

Good morning. I'm writing to ask whether you have heard of or considered activating Tapatalk for this forum. That is a service that will allow those of us who access this forum through Android and IPhone OS phones/devices to browse and contribute to threads through the Tapatalk app rather than through a mobile browser, making the mobile forum experience much smoother.

I honestly haven't researched what would be involved in activating this support, but I do know that it is free for the admin to do so.

Will you consider this?? I'm sure many members would be able to take advantage and enjoy this added feature.

Thanks!

As you can see, I've merged your thread into an existing one on the subject.

One short answer is that Tapatalk is not supported on the version of vBulletin we use for our forums, and we have some hurdles to overcome before we can think about upgrading.

Do you still use Multimate to write the news articles? :D

Another vote for Tapatalk. I know MR isn't a democracy, but I would really, really, like to see Tapatalk support. AVForums has it and it makes such a difference to being able to quickly check subscribed threads, send messages, send/read images and such while on the move...

I support tapatalk. I love having my frequently visited forums in a single app. They recently updated it for retina displays. Lovely!

I like the updated look and feel of forum.xda-developers.com. I like being able to tweet something straight from the forum, or quickly post something via the app Tapatalk.

just my 2 cents.

As we've noted, it can't happen until we upgrade the forums, and while a forum upgrade on our list, there are various technical and procedural hurdles that have slowed us down on this front.

We'll take a closer look at things once we're on something more recent than vBulletin 3.6, but until that upgrade is made, Tapatalk is simply not going to happen.

Yes another +1 for tapatalk. Theres a more important question though.

Why can't you upgrade from 3.6? There's more than enough tech heads here to help MR out and get it done quickly!

Historically MacRumors has been incredibly reluctant to recruit technical help from the community.

As to upgrading, they claim that they have too many hacks and modifications, and upgrading will break those.

To me, that just shows bad pre-planning, but that's not my business. Nor it is yours. All we can do is to keep asking for it in this forum. :p

Mr Earthblood :)

Thanks for the contribution. I can't see what exact hacks have been applied - looks pretty standard here for nbulletin.

Everything is very wishywashy here...If we had specifics, we could help..that's all we want to do!

TapATalk

The reason why I am writing this is to ask you if there is any possible way you are thinking about adding the TalkATalk program. It's a program for the iPhone,Blackberry and Android.

Its really easy to install. You just need to upload some files to the server and add alittle bit of code to the Standard FORT style. It is also free.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

What does it do?

There's been plenty of discussion on this subject already: Search before you post.

http://mroogle.*************/ - search for TapATalk

Or use the SEARCH box on the top right of the Macrumors Forum.

Good luck.

My Bad...I guess I didn't think about searching before I posted. Sorry About That. You can delete this thread if needed. Thank You!

My vote is for taptalk and actually, the Droid X forums just teamed up with TapTalk and have released a FREE app that is taptalk for their forum only. I think that's a great idea tbh.
