Hi everyone,

I might be obtuse here, but I'm trying to find an option to use the home button on my iPad (Pro, 12.9 inch) in such a way that I tap it instead of pressing it?

The reason being, the button feels like it's dying and I want to preserve the little life it has in it.

Tapping works for unlocking (without a button press) but not for the app switcher or home.

Thanks!

Try using the accessibility feature onscreen home button. It can be configured to just be a home button (or several buttons combined) onscreen and works great.

If you pull control center from bottom of the screen, you can press at any blank spot on screen to go to home

Thanks, I didn't know about that feature.

I updated to iOS 11 already, alas.

I don't know about iOS 11 yet but I set the following on 10:

Settings - general - accessibility - home button - rest finger to open.

I use the power button (or Smart Cover) to turn on the screen then you just have to rest your finger on the home button to unlock - no need to "click" it.

I also use gestures such as four-finger swipe-up to get app-switcher and five-finger pinch to return to home screen. In fact I don't think I press the home button at all in my daily use!
