I finally got to try on a few Watches today (as I'm from Norway and it's not yet available here) and I have a question for those that maybe have more than 1 in their household.

I first tried a SS classic black band and when turning on the demo loop I could barely feel the tactic feedback at all. Hardly noticeable actually.

I followed up with a Watch Sport with Black rubber band and the difference was huge! Very noticeable and distinct "tapping".

I finalised my try on with a SS link band - same thing as the classic, barely felt it. Mind you, that watch was very loose on my wrist as the link wasn't fitted for me.

This lead me to the conclusion that the stainless watch maybe is having a lighter tap because of material type? I've followed the complaints here, but the threads are so many and move so fast that I'm not sure if there are any conclusions?

Does someone here have both the SS and sport in their household and can test this theory?

Other than that I am mighty impressed! If the iPad was ever marketed as magical then this is a great magical follow up! That screen, the craftsmanship, the "feel"! I'm only sad I didn't get to bring one with me even I was so so close to getting one on Wednesday!!

I have a black SS sport band and my co worker has a classic black bucks and its opposite. I can't feel it, he can. I turned on prominent haptic on for now.

Sometimes I feel it, sometimes I don't. I usually do. I have a 38mm SS.

I think some of the issue with people not feeling it is that they don't have the watch on tight enough/it's not fit properly.

I have an SS and have been wanting the haptic feedback to be stronger. Sometimes I do not notice the feedback

What week was yours? My wife and I both got week 17 SS watches and I'm surprised at how strong the taps are.

The two first was tight enough. Not the link. Surprised by the difference though.

So I just got my 42 SG today, and I can feel it. But what makes me wonder is I can also audibly hear a fairly loud clicking when it taps. Is that normal? I thought from what most people had said it was silent, but I can definitely hear an audible click when adjusting the strength in the settings.

EDIT: Scratch that, just figured out it was the alert volume causing an audible click, even though the mute option was on. Turned it down and now I don't hear a thing. :)

I have a 42mm SS with Milanese Loop band, and I feel it every time the Taptic engine buzzes.

I have a 42mm with Black Classic Buckle and the tap is very noticeable. I had prominent haptic on at first and it was overkill. Turned it off and it's been fine without it.

Hm, so I can't really draw any conclusions then. Just have to hope the one I get has a good engine..

I think it depends on the strap and how tight you wear the watch (obviously)

I have a 42 SS WSB week 14 and I've noticed that the strap makes the watch not sit square on my wrist. It's almost like it's at the top of my wrist. Considering the Taptic Engine is at the top of the watch, I probably couldn't feel it as good due to bad contact with my wrist. I'm now using the S/M strap on the last hole and the watch sits better and Taptic is more noticeable. I think the more strap you tuck inside makes the watch not sit on your wrist properly.

It's one of those things that's subjective.... one persons weak tap is another persons strong tap.

But is it subjective when I had 3 different watch/band combos that differed in strength? I get your point about the sport band though. But it was still the one I felt it easiest with.

I just received my 38mm SS Classic buckle yesterday and I feel like the taptic is too soft. Sometime I don't feel it at all. Contemplating returning it.

I just returned my 38mm SS Classic buckle to the Apple Store. The person helping me was unable to give any insight into the varying degrees of taptic strength. He also seemed pretty unconcerned... Haha. I have a 38mm space grey coming in this month and hopefully that one will be better.
