For those of you who don't know, TarDisk is a Kickstarter project that uses the SD slot in MacBooks to increase storage space of the computer. The attraction is flush design and fast read/write speeds. Here is the Kickstarter page:

My TarDisk arrived today. On my 2013 Macbook Air using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test the TarDisk shows speeds of 44MB/s write and 54 MB/s read. Significantly below the advertised speeds. Can others who have bought TarDisks post their speeds so I can find out if it's just mine?

Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is free on the App Store - https://macappsto.re/au/Mwqwz.m

Are you encrypting the drive? That will slow it down somewhat.

apparently not an issue for 256gb size

It's annoying, but I've decided I don't actually care for the way I use it. Music and Movie files.

i got it and its pretty cool but its definitely not as fast as advertised... its kinda like the only option we have at having more storage so ill keep it lol
