I need some pictures from my g4 digital audio onto my macbook, so I started the power mac up in target disk mode with the firewire cable attached, and it didn't mount. I have restarted both computers, and still the disks don't show up in disk utility. Could I have a bad cable, or is something else the problem?

Thats the first thing I'd try... is the cable.

At work, I've used Target Disc Mode to even mount Apple OS X DVDs for installation / booting when the older G3s/G4s didn't have a DVD drive and I needed to install Tiger (we haven't yet migrated to Leopard... lots of old, slow machines)...

So, first thing I'd check is the Cable...

2nd thing... try a different Firewire Port on either / both machines!

Good luck!
