Target Display mode

So it seems that the the late 2012 21.5' iMac's are able to use Target display mode and my question is this- would you be able to connect a Windows machine to the iMac through a mini display port cable or with an adapter of some sort?

No, you would not be able to do this.

For the 2012 iMac to work as a display you need:

"A Mac notebook or desktop with a ThunderBolt connection"
