The way I did todo lists on my Palm was just using the notes. The key thing was that it had categories and I could order things around as I needed. So I would have a @errands category that had a list of stuff I need to get. I could then just list notes in that category. I could then take all the notes for the category and reorganize them so I could move something around or even assign a note to a new category. And since the first line of the note shows up in the category view I used that as the "todo" if I needed to go into more detail about it I would put that in the note. It worked great and I even had carried the palm around with me for a few weeks after the iphone so I could still use it. Nowadays I use the "contact hack" where I have a notes category with @home, @errands, etc and for the text I list each thing I need. Not as easy to read as it was on the palm but it works.

I have a dot mac account
In my iPhone (Orange, France, ver. 1.1.3) there is a new mailbox: Apple Mail To Do, that doesn't appear neither in my mac (Mail) nor in Dot Mac Mail.
What do you think about it?

Not much :)

Apple ToDo and notes store their data in mailbox folders they are just custom email types. They just get copied to .mac's imap folder structure.

Mail.app on the mac knows that it needs to do to turn the data in those folders back into to do's and notes..

I knew Apple hadn't forgotten about this. I guess we'll have to wait until the end of the month when the SDK is released, right?

I very much look forward to this coming soon! I finally got my iPhone 1.5 weeks ago and I'm loving it!!

Yes, some of these iPhone criticisms are valid, but seriously, if you need to take your Blackberry with you and make To Do lists just to get some basic grocery shopping done, you either have too much time on your hands or need a girlfriend!
That is like the epitomy of DORK! The iPhone isn't the smartphone for you.
It's the smartphone for the REST of us and Notes works just fine for me. I don't need to hear bells and whistles every time I check off an item. I'd much rather be listening to music and occasionally check my notes just to see if I've missed something.

And by the way, the grocery store is the best place to meet someone I've read, but I'm pretty sure that a Blackberry & a To Do list isn't going to turn heads in a positive way unless you're shopping in Silicon Valley!

Sure, Windows Mobile probably does this, but why aren't they selling as well if it's so "KEWL" and easy to use?! Why doesn't everybody want this enough to buy them like crazy?

I rest my case.

First of all, I'll have you know that my girlfriend is the one telling me what to go get at the grocery store.

As far as my example using grocery lists and the like, it was just that: an example. As far as a business application, one could bring up a map showing that they need to pick up the boss's laundry uptown at 2:00, swing past the print shop for the 50 copies of the big presentation by 2:45, meet the sales rep at the airport at 4:15 and make the office dinner party at 7:00 downtown.

And I've been the epitome of dork since long before iPhones and Blackberrys. Besides, what could be more "the REST of us" than a few shopping lists?
