8.25%

Currently, sales tax in most CA county is 8.75%.

currently the lowest which is about 1/3 is 8.25%, most are 9.25% ( a 1 % increase) or 9.75$.

I THINK a couple are even 10.25% now, which is where many will go to in July.

Just thank your government for that. If you are complaining now just wait. Change you can believe in!

Why are you using an Obama slogan for something that was obviously in effect before you know he became president. Quit the sarcasm and trying to be witty. And do us all a favor and use logic.

I was being witty. I said "If you are complaining now just wait" Meaning in the FUTURE it will be worse. Change you can believe in!

I can't believe that I had to pay nearly $30 more in sales tax because I purchased my iPhone at a Apple store and not AT&T. According to the employees at the Apple Store in Brea, CA people who are buying their iPhone in Apple Stores have to pay sales tax on the full price of the phone (599/699) no matter what price they paid!! Yet if you go to AT&T you only pay tax on the price of the sale.

I have never heard something so absurd, sales tax is tax on the price of the sale, not some price they decide the product is worth!!!

I wish I would have known this before I went to an Apple Store instead of AT&T.....

I bought mine at the apple store brea too! What a small world.

And yes, the 32 gig was 360 dollars, they have to tax the full price not the subsidized price it is a state law.

Really? what line where you in?

I live in CA, I bought a refurb AT&T quicksilver 3g usb modem about a week ago. Price was free, but I still had to pay $23 tax on the original value of $249.

ATT taxed as well

Brea ATT taxed full price as well. I purchased 32G for $299 but they taxed for the $599 price. I told them they needed to put it in writing that you are buying the item for $599 with a $300 coupon in order to pull that off but they didn't seem to care. In all it is Apple who is the one who determines the fee. They should have put it in writing, in those terms. All those who purchased a new phone that day were overtaxed and Apple Inc. will hear about it.

i think they were actually 699$ with a 400$ coupon.

Your state has an almost $40 billion budget deficit and you want to cut taxes. Good move.

FWIW, I live in new york and bought my phone at an apple store

i paid tax on the sale price: $216 in all...not complaining at all...a bunch of you guys got RIPPED

We need to cut spending and cut taxes. The state is losing the states most productive people to other states with lower taxes.

Revenues will continue to decrease as taxpayers leave the state.

The only way to stop the flow of productive taxpayers is to make the state sales tax and other taxes comparable to neighboring states.

Google is already move data server farms to Oregon. Which means less income tax revenue is collected and sales tax revenue is collected.

One needs to ask google why they are moving parts of their business out of state.

What are you guys crying about 8.75% I pay near 11% In Chicago payed 220 and change for my 16gb iPhone

Same thing here in Phoenix.
I paid $215 and change for my 16GB 3Gs. (8.3% tax rate in Phoenix)
The city only collects taxes on the FINAL sale price.
We do not have a state sales tax.

It will be the monthly taxes that really get you.

"Eleven federal, state and city levies add as much as 33 percent to the cost of New Yorkers' cellphones, a Post analysis found."

"A typical cell plan costing $49.99 a month comes with a total tax bill of $10.59 -- a 21.18 percent tax rate that helps give New York the fourth-highest cellphone taxes of any state."
