To say that Taylor Swift fans are excited for the singer's new album 1989 to be released on Oct. 27 would be an understatement.

Case in point: When a track containing nothing but eight seconds of white noise was accidentally released under the album's name on Tuesday morning, it shot to the top of Canada's iTunes chart almost immediately.

The release of the audio file, entitled "Track 3," was reportedly the result of an iTunes glitch — but that didn't stop eager fans from shelling out $1.29 to download the song.

It will be the top earning song of 2014.

It probably sounds better than 95% of music today anyways so good for her! For what it's worth, I've never heard one of her songs and am not a fan...I just think today's music is awful.

I dunno. I like her music. At least she writes a fair amount of her songs and can play instruments unlike many artists.

I also think the song got to the top in part because many people had the album pre-ordered, not because they purchased the 8 second track by itself.

Finally! A song of Taylor's that my wife can stand to listen to! :D

In over half a decade she has made one song that I enjoyed enough to buy (Love Story) and admittedly it doesn't have much depth. Its brilliance is in its innocent simplicity: emphasis on the innocence which is sorely lacking in music today (I'm looking at ... err ... averting my eyes from you Beyonce and Miley!).

I expected this to be an article from The Onion. Imagine my surprise.

You know it's a sad world when you mistake the real news as an article from the Onion. Sometimes, the Onion is a little more believable than the real stuff going on.

Well, it is Canada.

Personally I'm not so sure I could hear the difference. It is, after all Taylor Swift we're talking about.

Gad I can't stand her...

What is it with Taylor Swift ? I watched her on Letterman last night and found her dull, boring and a bad pop singer.

There's your mistake.

With all due respect to Letterman (Let's call it what it is; he should have been the successor to Carson), you should have tuned to Fallon. Daniel Radcliffe rapping Alphabetic Aerobics by Blackalicious in its entirety was pretty damn good.
