Young, successful, opinionated, sexually active female singer that panders to a different demographic to the one they're in. That type of person rubs a lot of people up the wrong way. For some reason.
Hmm... Of all the characteristics you listed, I presume it's the "opinionated" part that irks the most people. I guess it's tough for me to understand, because if someone has an opinion that differs from mine or has nothing to do with me, I simply don't care and move on with my life. I don't feel the need to call said person a *****, but I guess a lot of people do. :oops:

Good for her. THere are many great ideas that don't get done. It reminds me of a quote by Calvin Coolidge:

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

The problem with that philosophy is that it produces acres of mediocrity and garbage. See: the past hundred years.

True genius is very rare.

I'm really surprised at that 10 million figure. Considering Apple Music is a free service for three months and it's available on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and iPod, 10 million is a very low figure. That's like 1 percent of their 800 million iTunes customers.

Yet she still thinks it is ok to use the work of others (Photographers) without paying them if she pleases...maybe you should read that contract again before celebrating...in the end she does to photographers what she complained about when apple did it...i realy hate hypocrites

I just read it. It says she can post pictures of her on her social media accounts.

I look at it as more of a philosophy of "just get it done."

I've seen lots of great ideas that didn't get implemented because the person behind them was a "fire and forget" type mentality, where they came up with a bunch of great ideas, but never saw them through.

As someone that has hired people, I look at people that worked on farms and nuclear submarines as more hireable than a college grad that hasn't achieved anything except a degree. Don't get me wrong, a degree is impressive (I have two), but a degree without accomplishment is just a piece of paper.

A nuclear submariner that has a farm and a degree, that's a sure hire!

Miss swift, you know you can send a letter without informing the whole world, and milking the publicity, but what would the benefit of that action be to you?

Still rolling with Orchestrated stunt between beats, Apple and her management

This may have been a penny-wise and dollar-foolish move by Swift and the artists she took a stand for. They’ll get their pennies for the three-month trial, but they’ve also locked out any competitor from entering the streaming music space (or any similar space).

Only Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft and the like will be able to cover the royalty cost for a three-month span to introduce a future product, so the likelihood of a start-up getting in the game is now nil.

From hence the artists will demand compensation during all trial periods. This is their right, but not one that many organizations will be able to accommodate.

Apple is more than happy to dole out a few chips from its war chest to forever shut out it competition.

Personally Taylor Swift annoys the bejeezus out of me, but this is actually a really good point.
Not really. Spotify pays for the trial and for the free tier and the subscription tier. Taylor Swift complained to Spotify about how much they were paying artists, Apple is paying the same...

But why would apple care then? They cared because of the bad publicity, not because they felt bad about the poor artists.

If there was a down vote option on MacRumors, I would down vote this article. I'm very sick of her marketing. Still, many people here will praise her... The shepherd tending the sheep...

2002 called, it wants your username back.

Regardless, I praise Taylor Swift because:

a) she doesn't have to take her clothes off to sell records unlike 90% of the female pop industry;
b) she has a strong connection with her fans;
c) she knows what she wants and she gets it done;
d) (subjective) I like her music.

You can hate her and her music all you want but you can't deny the first three points.

Also, Spotify's streaming service is a mirror of the company's values: corporate and generic. Apple Music has many flaws, but at least it recommends me top notch playlists.

Sure you did, Taylor. I think she means she texted her lawyer at 4am, who then wrote the letter.

Right, because someone who artistically crafts words and sounds together for a living is probably incapable of writing a letter by herself.

I don't disagree that she may have sent a copy to her lawyer or legal team, maybe, maybe not.... but asserting she's incapable of doing it herself just makes you sound ignorant.

And for the record, I'm not a Taylor Swift "fan". I don't dislike her or necessarily her music (some of it gets on my nerves but that's more the overplaying radio's fault). I couldn't tell you much about her other than she took a stand for something she believes in (the "little guy") and forced change in one of the wealthiest corporations in the world.

Exclusive swift content on Apple music. Launching a product, good or bad publicity gets it into the Media, don't forget the outcome was win win for all

That wasn't simply 'a letter'. A team of copywriters and music lawyers couldn't have crafted anything better. I suspect Swift is a highly intelligent woman, but I'd be astonished if that were 'all her own work'.

Think of all the time you've wasted writing that.

I don't support multi millionaire's whinging for more money like megalomaniacs. Also for the fact they are part of the corrupt system where "agents" control other people's work for profit, which I do not support. I will only pay for music if I get something tangible in return - aka an MP3 single file, for MP3 album, so I also do not support streaming for this reason.

I wish she would reveal her retirement date. I'm so sick and tired of her and this whole Apple thing. Enough already.
Oh, really? Then why didn't you just ignore the article and did something else with your time than making it worth commenting on the one you'd like to disappear?
Of course I know why you did it and you know it, too ;)
