Real quick question and I could not locate the answer, so apologies if this has been addressed.

I have a 2016 MP Pro 13 inch. Just received notice my '17 iMac will arrive on June 19th.

I was considering setting it up as new, but now leaning toward migrating to the iMac from the MacBook Pro using TB 3.

Does anyone know if the USB-C cable that comes with the MBP is simply USB-C or is it Thunderbolt capable and hence, able to transfer the data? Or is this just a dumb question and they are both the same thing?

I recall the original TB cables being super expensive and I couldn't imagine Apple putting something in the box capable of this kind of transfer.

    It's a USB-C but USB 2.0 in data.

Thunderbolt 3 cables are typically $60-70 for 2m.
And almost all Thunderbolt cables I've seen have the Thunderbolt logo on the connectors.
